Description

Drive Surface devices’ long-term silicon strategy with a focus on SoC system performance for all workloads and advanced compute methods (CPU, GPU, NPU). This strategic Principal System Performance Lead role defines future Surface silicon and system performance requirements and partners with internal and third-party suppliers to meet those goals. Your work will shape the performance and capabilities of next-generation Surface devices. It offers the chance to influence silicon and product roadmaps and shape how millions of users experience productivity and creativity on Surface devices. You’ll collaborate across engineering teams and industry partners to realize your vision for performance on our devices. We are currently building the next generation of devices and Surface needs you!

This role is located in Redmond, WA, and reports into the Surface System Platform Architecture team.

Lead the technical direction and vision of system performance goals across full Surface product portfolio.Collaborate across multiple disciplines and organizations to help create a silicon strategy for Surface products.Leverage familiarity with industry-standard benchmarks and methodologies for analyzing performance throughput, power, and efficiency.Pinpoint performance bottlenecks and quantify the impact of architecture changes for current and future products.Proactively seek out new knowledge and anticipate industry trends that help shape overall technical strategy.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experienceOR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 9+ years technical engineering experienceOR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 11+ years technical engineering experienceOR equivalent experience.6+ years of experience in architecture and detailed design of mobile computer systems.Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:

Hardware Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
