Description

The Azure Silicon Cloud Hardware Infrastructure and Engineering (SCHIE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational success for Azure that exceeds our customer’s expectations. Our technology and innovations are globally available foundation of Azure Control plane that hosts services with the scale of Azure Compute / Bing / Skype / Azure Storage / AI with millions of multiplayer gaming sessions and large-scale computational solutions. Our teams are responsible for the development of server, silicon and rack infrastructure design with a focus on innovation for Azure infrastructure for Microsoft and their customers. Therefore, securing the fleet to enable our customers to achieve more is a fundamental priority for our business.

We are looking for a highly motivated Principal Security Firmware Program Manager with a background in security to work on delivering firmware for securing Azure infrastructure, both for the existing Azure fleet and incoming new portfolio. The Platform Security Program Manager will be responsible for the ownership of e2e delivery for Security firmware. The Root of Trust firmware is a core component of securing core components on our Azure hardware. The security PM will have the opportunity to gather requirements to drive security posture forward, to drive architecture, design reviews and own the e2e schedule for multiple programs where the technology will intercept.

Work alongside the dev team to gather requirements, build a development plan for on time delivery of firmware with quality Drive cross-functional team dependency and alignment, managing risk appropriately Drive multiple SW workstreams, track the development progress, and communicate status to senior leadership Manage multiple concurrent projects and drive initiatives in a cross functional environment Coordinate with our internal partner teams to bring up the next generation of cloud HW Responsible for bringing systematic SW/FW development practice to the team Effectively collaborate, build relationships, and influence cross-functional team members to achieve product perfection Embody our culture and values.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

OR equivalent experience.

3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

5+ years of experience with pre-silicon or post-silicon firmware development Proven ability to understand, synthesize, summarize, & communicate solutions to complex technical problems

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Root of Trust firmware development or Secure boot enablement or cryptography - a huge plus Knowledge about datacenters & operation at scale Knowledge of high-volume server design and manufacturing Demonstrated ability to perform in a high-paced product development environment 10+ years of experience in Firmware development or System design across all stages of the development and release cycles Experience in technical program management in driving concurrent projects and initiatives of complex cross-group, cross-business, cross-disciplinary projects Proficient interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate technical content to general audiences Ability to deal with ambiguity, prioritize multiple strategies and tactical options, and drive issues to closure with a high bar on quality

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
