OverviewThe Microsoft Windows Security team is looking for a learn-it-all Principal Security Engineering Manager that will help secure Microsoft Windows products and devices, with focus on offensive security and security engineering & mitigations for Windows.
The Windows Security team is responsible for securing the Windows client and server operating systems, used by billions of customers every day and in businesses worldwide. This team performs security design reviews, code reviews, penetration testing, vulnerability research and driving systematic mitigations to security risks on Windows to make sure they meet the highest possible security standards and proactively defend cybersecurity threats. This role is hands-on, technically demanding, and central to strengthening the security posture of OS platforms.
In this role, you will lead a team of security engineers to discovery vulnerabilities, develop mitigations, and partner directly with Windows product engineering teams to design proactive, durable, scalable defense. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of offensive technologies and well connected with security communities with up to date strategic insights on threats, a clear understanding of OS security fundamentals, a strong mind to coach and grow team, and a passion for keeping Microsoft customers safe.

Responsibilities
Lead strategy and execution of team to identify and mitigate risk in Microsoft products, including design review, code reviews, and fuzzing.Be the primary leader and influential voice to manage threats & business risks, and systematic mitigation plan across entire the orgLeverage a broad and current understanding of security to devise new protections and exploit mitigations, through internal and external security community and groupsCollaborate and drive accountability with product teams to improve security and articulate the business value of security investments.Manage & grow high performance team with learn-it-all and frontier culture.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in security or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in security or related fieldOR equivalent experience.3+ years people management.Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience security experience with native code (C/C++) and binaries, such as identifying vulnerabilities, reverse engineering, or similar , demonstrating ability to lead exploit mitigations and platform-level defense techniques.Ability to create clarity, energy, and cohesion across the team.Ability to influence and drive security initiatives across groups.3+ years of managing 20+ teams.10+ years of experience in a software engineering or security-related engineering.Demonstrated experience in security research, especially around vulnerability discovery.Experience exploiting bugs and bypassing security mitigations in operating systems.Familiarity with Microsoft Windows architecture.

Penetration Testing M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
