The CISO Operations Organization is looking for an experienced Security Assurance Engineer who is passionate about helping Microsoft protect its critical information assets. You would be joining our CSVA (Continuous Security Validation & Assurance) team whose objective is to continuously validate Microsoft’s security standards by implementing robust controls to effectively prioritize and address remediation actions across Microsoft. In this role, you will be part of a team that leads cross-functional teams and stakeholders to facilitate “get green” remediation projects (aka burndowns) focused on legacy implementations, assurance gaps to standards, and vulnerabilities impacting Microsoft internal assets. You will also play a significant role to onboard applicable security controls to our shared remediation support program to sustain a lasting “stay green” level of compliance.

The ideal candidate brings together their program management, data analytics, engineering experience, and tenacity to work with a diverse set of individuals such as Security Engineers, Risk Analysts, and Business Leaders to reduce risk. You should have an open mindset, be proficient in cloud security across hybrid environments, and be able to surge as needed to contain and limit exposure for cybersecurity incidents.

This role does require you to be willing/able to work a 12 x 7 on-call shift on a rotating schedule throughout the year to surge and help incident responders during high-volume/capacity constraints.

Core Responsibilities:

Solution Mitigation - Identifies and addresses underlying causes of security compliance gaps. Develops security guidance to address those gaps and ensure identified vulnerabilities are resolved correctly.Communications: Assesses, drafts, and distributes targeted messaging to impacted users and stakeholders.Alternative Solutions: Collaborates with SMEs and Service Owners to identify and validate viable alternatives for impacted users.Support Strategy: Organizes support resources, hosts technical support forums, develops Troubleshooting Guides (TSG) and email correspondence intended to accelerate remediation across a diverse set of Engineers and IT Professionals.Subject Matter Expertise: Exhibits subject matter expertise in a class or set of security issues, tools, mitigations, and processes. Provides guidance to others in areas of expertise. Maintains current knowledge by investing time and effort. Proactively seeks opportunities to learn.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Risk Management, Cyber Security, or related field OR equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in security assurance, risk management, or security engineering in a large-scale enterprise environment.5+ years project management & program governance skills including hands-on experience leading cross org projects and sustaining a program.5+ years of experience using structured data tools such as Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), PowerBI, and Excel to gather, analyze, and report data.3+ years of experience with cloud security and securing hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).Other Requirements:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafterCitizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.Controlled Technology: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. Preferred Qualifications:

Proven experience in delivering excellent verbal and written communications to middle management and senior leadership.Experience in developing security automation using scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.Project Management Profession (PMP) CertificationPrivacy, or Information Security certifications such as CIPP, CISSP, CISA, CISM, CFE, CGRC, CRISC, CGEIT, etc.Experience working with developers to recognize insecure patterns and establishing innovate ways for developers to incorporate secure development practices (e.g. standard and automation) in every step of the software development life cycle.Security Assurance IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
