Description

We are hiring a Revenue Recognition Finance Manager to join our organization. The Microsoft Corporate Accounting Revenue Recognition team is responsible for the reporting accuracy of billions of dollars of revenue across the world for both US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and local statutory reporting. Evaluate customer agreements, including amendments to those agreements, document the proper technical revenue conclusions, and prepare revenue adjustments in accordance with Azure Support Center (ASC) 606 Microsoft revenue policies, and customer/field intent.Develop and maintain depth and breadth of knowledge over Microsoft products, services and policies.Engage with deal desk to gather deal specific information and business context required to effectively complete contract reviews and drive compliance within Microsoft empowerment guidance. Review peer's work product for completeness and accuracy once proficiency of product and services knowledge is attained.Perform quarter end close revenue tasks independently.Contribute to process-improvement efforts by collecting and reviewing business partner and team feedback and incorporating industry best practices.Assist with internal and external audit queries on revenue recognition.Identify and assess financial statement risk to provide input on initiatives to enhance control compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).

Qualifications

Required/Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experienceOR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experienceOR equivalent experience.1+ years of experience in critical thinking, problem-solving, and operational excellence.1+ years of experience navigating complex systems, processes, and programs.2+ years of experience creating complex spreadsheets, pivot tables, and performing data analysis and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Additional or Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 5+ years accounting or finance experienceOR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experienceOR equivalent experience. Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent.Communication skills to influence business partners and deliver complex messages with clarity.Planning and organizational skills with ability to work under tight deadlines.Effective interaction and communication across a broad spectrum of audiences.Ability to work both independently and as a team player.Experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.

Experience in the technology or software industry.

ASC 606 experience/ practical application

Accounting IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.
