The Energy Connectivity Sustainability Team at Microsoft is hiring a Program Manager, Carbon Stragey to lead the development and execution of specific decarbonization strategies and help Microsoft achieve its carbon reduction goals.Success in this role requires collaboration across internal Microsoft business groups and external partners to scale impact and accelerate progress, drawing on your experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and engaging diverse stakeholders in sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate Microsoft-wide carbon reduction efforts, identifying gaps and proposing scalable solutions. Partner to evolve Microsoft’s carbon reduction roadmap to drive progress across areas such as electricity, fuels, semiconductors, and materials emissions. Identify decarbonization focus areas and execution gaps across Microsoft’s key business groups. Develop plans to improve availability of low-carbon products and solutions. Lead cross-company partnerships to ensure alignment and accountability on carbon commitments. Partner with the corporate reporting team to ensure transparent and accurate measurement of program progress. Advance Microsoft’s positioning on carbon standards for greater accuracy and impact. Collaborate with Markets and Finance teams to develop novel business and financially innovative structures to support scaling carbon markets that support 2030 targets. Partner with global policy teams to advance policy levers that support carbon progress in key geographies. Embody our culture and values
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Master's Degree AND 3+ years' work experience in environmental sustainability, carbon strategy, environmental policy, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Philanthropies, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, or related area OR Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years' work experience in environmental sustainability, carbon strategy, environmental policy, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Philanthropies, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, or related area OR equivalent experience. 3+ years' experience managing a corporate social responsibility (CSR) or related program. Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree AND 6+ years' work experience in environmental sustainability, carbon strategy, environmental policy, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Philanthropies, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, or related area OR Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years' work experience in environmental sustainability, carbon strategy, environmental policy, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Philanthropies, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, or related area OR equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience in carbon strategy and/or environmental policy. 3+ years' experience leading decarbonization initiatives across complex organizations. 3+ years' experience in carbon accounting, and market-based mechanisms. Knowledge of book & claim systems and embodied carbon frameworks.Corporate Social Responsibility IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,300 - $171,500 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,300 - $187,100 per year.
