Overview

We're looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager - Azure Office of the CTO, to join Azure's Open Source Ecosystem team. The team is responsible for representing Microsoft in leadership roles in critical nonprofit organizations (e.g., the Linux Foundation, Eclipse Foundation, OASIS (international standards body for technical work across security, privacy, and interoperability) Open) and working across product teams with partners and customers engaging together in open source project work.

The Open Source Ecosystem team is part of the Azure Office of the CTO and works across many parts of Microsoft to ensure we engage thoughtfully with the open source community. Our work spans areas such as open source security, cloud native computing, artificial intelligence, real time operating systems, and more. Microsoft's engagement with the open source community has been strong. This role is responsible for continuing to strengthen that engagement. Responsibilities

Engage across the open source community and across Microsoft. Work successfully across large, diverse organizations which may not always be aligned, both externally and internally. Listen to different perspectives and then creating a unifying strategy for engaging with the community. Through community engagements, increase Microsoft's ability to leverage open source tools, practices, and projects as part of our broader business. Communicate the business value of Microsoft engagement in open source projects and nonprofits clearly to leadership Create a culture that creates clarity and sets high goals as the open source community is large and complex. Since our work is done in collaboration with our partners and customers in the open source community, ensure we are humble and supportive in sharing the specific customer problems we're trying to solve as well as why we've chosen our particular strategy.Be pragmatic and look at complex technical problems and create clarity, focusing on building solutions that are operable in today's public cloud environments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Qualifications:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.5+ years experience working in the open source or open standards community. Ideal candidates will take joy in working with the open source community and have a track record of successful collaboration with this community in the past. Experience with authoring and producing technical whitepapers and presentations. Experience with non-Microsoft platforms and technologies. Think big and have a track record for building virtual teams that deliver novel solutions.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
