Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the usage billing team builds the next-generation data platform for reliable ingestion, aggregation and processing of usage emitted at high volume by Microsoft services and submits to internal Commerce systems for an accurate and timely bill to customers. This is a mission critical service built for scale, compliance and data guarantees also leveraging our world class Azure Data real time messaging, streaming and analytics services to ensure critical billing usage data to flow into revenue for Microsoft.

The Azure Usage Billing team is building a next-gen usage billing middle tier for consumption-based cloud service. As a Senior Product Manager on the team, you have the opportunity to influence the product roadmap, define the feature set and ensure world class fundamentals and customer value. You also will engage with customers and solve billing pain points for services across the company.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will:

In partnership with each Azure service, identify the billing scenarios and corresponding billing requirements.Work with services across Azure to land the requirements for the usage platform and drive product adoption.Produce user stories and product specifications for responsible areas.Understand top customer pain points and drive resolution through product enhancements, policy and support experience.Triage, prioritize and partner with engineering to deliver the service billing needs.Develop expertise in the Azure cloud business and billing models to drive standardization and simplification of billing to benefit the business and customers.Contribute to generating organization-wide priorities, define project milestones and success criteria.Regularly communicate progress toward goals for periodic project reviews.Collaborate with our analytics and data science teams to develop strategic insights to inform org-wide decision making based on the collected customer usage signals.Embody our culture and values



Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmentOR equivalent experience.5+ years of leading industry engineering experience.5+ years of in program or product management or related experience.3+ years’ experience driving complex, cross-organizational projects.Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Customer obsessed, with presentation experience and interpersonal skills across leadership, engineering teams, customers, and partners. Proven data-driven decision making with ability to impact and influence business decisions across boundaries. Experience presenting plans and building consensus with technical leaders.Collaboration skills with the ability to influence and drive change broadly across groups.Experience with metered billing and business models.Knowledge of security, data privacy and compliance regulations.Experience with Data platform technologies is a plus.Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
