Description

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our team! Linux Systems Group (LSG) is responsible for the Linux operating system platform that power Azure – from VMs and containers, to bare metal, and silicon – in the cloud and at the edge. We work closely with upstream communities, with software and hardware vendors, OEMs, Linux distribution partners, and with hundreds of customers inside and outside Microsoft to create and operate OS platforms and products with the highest security, hardware-accelerated performance, and innovation agility.

As Linux usage grows in usage, there is a need for the Linux platforms for the various scenarios to have a cutting-edge virtualization platform. In this role, you will work closely with engineering leaders to define the virtualization platform that needs to be built and customized for the various use cases, work with upstream project leaders (many of whom are on our team!) on new and emerging innovations, and with large customers on hardware and software requirements, and ensure and the right processes and rhythm of business is set up for operational excellence, This is a fantastic learning opportunity from a career standpoint.

Linux Virtualization strategy and roadmap: Collaborate across customers, engineering leaders, and upstream to define customer needs, track industry trends, and define the associated roadmap for Linux virtualization strategy across Cloud and Edge. Operational excellence: Lead delivery of the Linux Virtualization, with varying configurations, to multiple Linux distributions, including Azure Linux. Customer focus: Deeply care and champion the success of our customers, leading from the front when things go wrong, and learning and prioritizing from incidentsSubject Matter Expertise: Be curious, learn, and become a subject matter expert in the area. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmentOR equivalent experience.2+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Experience working with public or private cloud products and environments, deployments at scaleOR equivalent Linux experienceExperience managing diverse stakeholder relationships, and presenting complex information clearly

Other Requirements: Cloud Background check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmentOR equivalent experience.Experience using Linux and working with other open-source communities.Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.Knowledge of modern technology concepts such as containerization, virtualization, Kubernetes orchestration, and general open source fundamentals.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
