As Principal Product Manager - Word, you'll empower individuals and organizations to create and understand content that matters. In this role, you will drive strategic planning, manage complex product portfolios, and partner closely with engineering and technical program managers to deliver impactful, customer-centric AI experiences.As a Principal Product Manager - Word, you will not only develop a deep understanding of customer needs and the evolving landscape of writing, expression, and reading in the AI era, but also deliver a platform that empowers customers, partners, and developers to build innovative solutions. This role is highly focused on AI, requiring strong technical acumen to drive the creation and delivery of advanced AI-powered experiences. You will oversee complex projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape and execute platform strategies that meet diverse customer, partner, and business needs. Define, communicate, and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Microsoft 365 and Copilot experiences.Own and evolve platform capabilities, APIs, and extensibility frameworks to empower both internal and external teams.Collaborate with partner and developer ecosystem teams to establish platform requirements, governance models, and onboarding processes.Drive platform scalability, reliability, and security to meet the needs of large-scale customers and partners.Build and nurture strong cross-functional partnerships, providing strategic guidance and resolving complex alignment issues to drive organizational clarity and execution.Oversee a diverse portfolio of complex product and technical projects, ensuring cohesive user experiences, compliance, and effective resource planning aligned with customer needs.Present in operational and reporting forums, communicating initiative status and building connections across Microsoft to maximize impact.Embody our culture and values.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.8+ years of product management experience, with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.5+ years experience in defining and building, launching, or scaling platforms, productivity, collaboration, or cloud-based products (including APIs and multi-tenant systems).5+ years demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and align with technical stakeholders, partners, and developer communities.8+ years excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience leveraging data and customer insights to drive decisions.Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:

Solid understanding of Microsoft 365, Office, AI, and related technologies.Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
