Description
OverviewThe Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) team is part of the Azure Core Storage organization and owns Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Microsoft’s hyperscale data lake platform that powers analytics and AI workloads across Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and partner ecosystems such as Databricks and Snowflake.
We are looking for a Product Manager II to help define, build, and deliver storage capabilities that serve as the foundation for modern analytics and AI solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, distributed systems and shape the next wave of innovation in data lake storage.
Responsibilities
As a Product Manager II on the Azure Data Lake Storage team, you will:
Own product scenarios and requirements for specific ADLS features or areas, translating customer and partner needs into clear product specifications and prioritized backlogs.Work closely with engineering teams to drive feature execution end-to-end, including scenario definition, functional specifications, trade-off decisions, and delivery.Engage directly with customers and partners to understand analytics and storage workloads, validate requirements, and incorporate feedback into product plans.Collaborate cross-functionally with PMs, engineers, partner teams, and other Azure stakeholders to align on priorities, dependencies, and release plansUse data and customer insights to evaluate product success, identify gaps, and recommend improvements to reliability, performance, scalability, or usability.Contribute to roadmap planning by helping define near- and mid-term priorities aligned with Azure analytics, AI, and partner ecosystems.Communicate product direction clearly through written specs, design reviews, and stakeholder updates, ensuring alignment across teams.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a Product Manager or in a related role delivering customer-facing or platform products.Familiarity with cloud platforms, storage systems, or analytics/data infrastructure.Strong product thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex technical scenarios into clear requirements.Experience working cross-functionally with engineering teams and other stakeholders.Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.Experience with cloud storage, data lakes, analytics platforms, or distributed systems.Exposure to ecosystems such as Azure analytics services, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar platforms.Experience using data to inform product decisions and measure success.
Product Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
