Overview

We’re looking for a Principal Product Designer to lead the design vision for next-generation Calendar + Copilot experiences. You’ll craft solutions that help users manage and automate key workflows that organize their time, schedule events, and collaborate with others into a seamless Calendar experience. Your work will span from refining today’s time management interfaces to imagining bold, AI-powered futures that make users more empowered and productive at work. You’ll design for scale and elegance: end-to-end workflows that feel intuitive, personalized, and connected across Microsoft 365. Think beyond screens: explore how AI agents, predicative workflows, and conversational interfaces can transform how people plan, prioritize, and collaborate daily. From enabling dynamic “next best actions” to creating experiences that feel like a personalized executive assistant, your designs will help bring delight to our customers, making technology feel like a thought partner, not a tool.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve the design vision for Microsoft Calendar Copilot experiences, with a focus on Conversational User Experiences and Autonomous Agents.Design endtoend workflows that make time management feel simple—across desktop, web, and mobile surfaces.Explore how Copilot, agents, prediction, and conversational UX can act as a thought partner for users to collaborate and work with.Lead ambiguous, highimpact problem spaces—balancing longterm vision with nearterm product delivery.Set a high bar for craft, quality, and usability, ensuring our products feels polished, coherent, and deeply thoughtful.Partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data science to turn insights into shipped experiences.Use research and data to guide decisions, validate direction, and coursecorrect when needed—optimizing for longterm user value, not vanity metrics.Influence and mentor designers across X3, helping raise the quality and consistency of design work across the system.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service designOR Bachelor's Degree in Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems). Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of experience with vibe-coding or prototypingA portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design leadership—from vision and systems thinking through launch—showcasing polished execution and product impact.Proven experience setting and driving design direction for complex, high-scale products used daily by millions of people.Exceptional design craft, with strong attention to interaction details, motion, composition, and clarity across workflows.Comfort operating in ambiguity, breaking down large problem spaces, and shaping crisp, durable solutions.Experience partnering deeply with research, data, product, and engineering to inform direction, validate decisions, and measure outcomes.You’ve led or shaped agentic or AI-powered experiences that go beyond suggestions—defining how intelligent systems plan, decide, and act over time, while earning user trust through clarity, predictability, and control. #X3, #T+P

Product Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
