Description
OverviewAI agents are only as effective as the experiences that help users configure and control them. We’re building the semantic layer for Microsoft’s next-generation data platform—the foundation that enables AI to understand business context and take meaningful action. As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll design guided experiences that make it easy for business and IT users to provide input, configure semantic models, and visualize complex relationships in ways that feel intuitive and actionable.
Your work will focus on agentic flows that guide users through defining business logic, goals, and outcomes—helping them shape how AI agents reason and act. You’ll turn abstract semantic concepts into clear, interactive experiences that empower users without requiring deep technical expertise.

Responsibilities
Design intuitive agent experiences: Create guided workflows that help users configure complex AI systems without requiring deep technical expertise.Visualize knowledge structures: Turn abstract semantic relationships into clear, interactive visualizations that make data models understandable and actionable.Bridge human and machine understanding: Translate technical concepts into approachable interfaces and language so users feel confident interacting with AI.Prototype and iterate quickly: Build and test design concepts that demonstrate how structured knowledge improves AI reasoning and user outcomes.Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with engineers, researchers, and product managers to ensure designs are technically feasible and user-centered. .Communicate design intent clearly: Share compelling product stories with stakeholders and adjust narratives for different audiences.Ground Decisions in Research: Conduct user research and analyze feedback to continuously refine semantic structures. Validate that your models actually help users and agents accomplish their goals.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service designOR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service designOR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).Applications must include a link to a design portfolio.Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Travel: Occasional travel (0% to 25%) is expected in this role.Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.Experience that demonstrates proven ability to advocate for design thinking, effectively influence design outcomes, discover problems and tackle them in fast-paced environments.

Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
