Security, privacy, and Responsible AI are foundational to customer trust. The Microsoft Security (MSec) Trust team ensures that Microsoft Security products meet internal policies and global regulatory requirements across privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance. We do this by partnering deeply with engineering teams and by building scalable platforms, tooling, and automation that make compliance durable, measurable, and efficient.We are seeking a Principal PM Technical Program Manager \ Architect with hands‑on engineering experience to help design and drive the next generation of compliance‑enabling platforms and tooling for the MSec Trust team. This role is responsible for shaping the technical architecture and product direction of internal systems that support regulatory enforcement, telemetry, evidence automation, and secure AI operations, while working directly with engineers to turn architecture into deployed solutions.This role blends product management, software architecture, and applied engineering, with a clear focus on enabling secure and compliant development at scale.

Responsibilities

Architect and drive internal platforms and tooling that support MSec Trust outcomes, including dashboards, analytics, and engineering systems used across Microsoft Security to demonstrate and maintain compliance. Partner directly with engineering teams to design and build hands‑on solutions, translating regulatory and trust requirements into technical architectures, APIs, data models, and automated workflows. Lead development of automated evidence pipelines, enabling continuous, auditable compliance signals rather than manual or episodic evidence collection. Shape enforcement and monitoring solutions for complex regulatory requirements. Design compliant AI platform hosting patterns, ensuring AI systems meet privacy, security, and responsible AI requirements while remaining usable and scalable for product teams. Define platform‑level architecture and roadmaps, aligning engineering investments with MSec Trust priorities and long‑term regulatory readiness. Communicate technical direction and status clearly to senior leadership, trust partners, and engineering stakeholders, grounding decisions in data and system behavior.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience. 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos). Experience building systems that support security, privacy, or regulatory compliance at scale.Familiarity with automated evidence collection, compliance telemetry, or control enforcement frameworks.Experience supporting or designing AI/ML platform infrastructure with embedded governance or access‑control requirements.Understanding of modern data governance patterns, including classified or regulated data handling.Proven ability to translate ambiguous regulatory or trust requirements into clear technical designs and executable engineering work.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
