Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Senior Platform Service Engineering Manager you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. You will manage a team that is responsible for operating the CE infrastructure across our unified global datacenters; managing the demand planning and capacity utilization; and responsible for running the physical infrastructure (including supply chain, hardware, power, security, and workflow teams). We emphasize automation, data driven engineering, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. You will support an environment that consists of Windows & Linux Server OS, Hyper-V, Active Directory, DNS, PowerShell scripting, data protection technologies, service metric and KPI reporting, documentation skills, along with interpersonal awareness, proactivity, and a proven ability to manage and drive delivery of multiple simultaneous cross-group dependent server and service-based projects.As a manager, you will lead a team responsible for the full lifecycle of enterprise bare‑metal server infrastructure, defining standards and directing execution for firmware and driver management at scale. Operational Excellence
Ensure the teams SLAs and KPIs are met and maintained, security conscience outcomes, server\OS\firmware management and maintenance, 24/7/365 service and infrastructure operations support, compliance, builds and deployments, commissioning, and optimization. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineeringOR equivalent experience.Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 8+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineeringOR equivalent experience5+ years technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.5+ years people management experience with track record of hiring and building a high performing, cohesive team where diversity is valued and managing 5 or more direct reoprts.3+ years’ experience working\supporting a production datacenter >1MW capacity
Service Engineering M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
