Responsibilities

About this role: Microsoft’s Research + Insight’s team is entering a new era where AI powered platforms, in house capability, and streamlined research workflows are fundamentally reshaping how we work. This role accelerates that momentum in campaign development and leverages AI-driven tools and techniques to provide insights where never before possible. In this role, you will contribute to a team dedicated to telling holistic stories about our brands and marketing campaigns. The primary focus of this role is contributing to campaign insights which help us understand how our campaigns contribute to customer experience and perception about our brands. These activities will provide insights to marketing practitioners with the objective of influencing strategic decisions connected to brand activations, creative messaging, and media. You will gain deep understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods, creative AI-driven methodological design, and turning insights into actionable stories. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, has a general understanding of market research techniques, and a keen ability to collaborate and influence across teams. Responsibilities 1. Lead research programs dedicated to campaign and competitive intelligence • Run traditional and AI Enabled Research to inform creative development and in-market campaign decisions • Leverage syndicated data to contextualize knowledge into broader, market-level insights 2. Deliver Strategic Insights at Speed • Translate research signals into clear, compelling narratives that influence product, marketing, and business decisions. • Guide teams through rapid cycle research, enabling closer proximity to the problem space and stronger interpretation of insights. 3. Partner Across Teams • Collaborate with research managers, data scientists, marketers, and product leaders to ensure insight alignment and business relevance. • Act as an ambassador for modern research tools and methods, helping drive adoption and behavior change across the org. • Work with an ecosystem of research suppliers managing research methods, timelines, and deliverables. 4. Contribute to Strategic Vision • Support R+I’s long term capability building strategy focused on agility, depth, IP protection, and the next generation of research talent.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

2+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles. Additional or Preferred Qualifications

5+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 4+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 3+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles. 1+ year(s) project management experience. Procficient foundational skills in both qualitative and quantitative methods. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex insights in clear, compelling narratives. Ability to navigate ambiguous, fast moving environments with a growth mindset. Experience with market research focused on campaign measurement, including ad testing Experience working in house within a large, matrixed organization. Experience working with market research agencies or in a market research agency to design and execute different types of research. Demonstrated ability to lead change, drive adoption of new methods, or introduce new research capabilities. Excellent written, verbal, and visual storytelling skills to design research, deliver insights, and impact business decisions.

Market Research IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.
