Description
The Digital Safety Unit sits within Microsoft’s Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) division, whose vision is to empower every person to have safer digital experiences. The team’s objectives include:Shaping global policy and emerging legal frameworks related to digital safety by engaging with industry, governments, and civil society; Mitigating digital risk by enabling Microsoft's compliance with legal obligations and voluntary commitments to address illegal and harmful online content; and Integrating safety by design into Microsoft product and services by engaging with engineering and business groups. We are seeking a Manager, Public Policy, to support our global efforts on public policy and partnerships. In this role, you will play a key role in helping gather and synthesize information about the global digital safety landscape, help coordinate internal and external events, develop strategic communications, and empower our global government affairs teams. Synthesizes and effectively communicate information on digital safety trends and developments around the world for diverse audiences. Assists in the gathering of data and intelligence information to support the preparation of position papers, policy briefings, and presentations Provides input for advancing Microsoft policy and/or political agenda and addresses routine policy and regulatory issues and provides support for addressing strategic issues. Implements Microsoft's strategic initiatives through internal and external collaboration. Coordinates internal/external events, including developing briefings and other content, drafting materials, and driving social media engagement. Implements communications strategy to ensure programs are integrated into external stakeholder messaging. Drives the development of digital safety campaigns and associated assets. Maintains an active network of global government affairs professionals, including through building internal relationships, sharing information, and understanding stakeholder needs. Contributes to the formulation of Microsoft’s digital safety initiatives and/or topics and participates in and coordinates intra-group and/or cross-group projects.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 2+ years work experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or related areaOR equivalent experience. Additional or Preferred Qualifications
2+ years experience in developing and managing strategic relationships to advocate and influence public, regulatory, and technology policy priorities.2+ years experience influencing, developing, or supporting public policy or political campaigns.Specific expertise in digital safety or content regulation.
Government Affairs IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
