Join the Learning and Skilling Infrastructure Enablement & Agile team as we lead the next wave of innovation in global workforce development at Microsoft. As a Senior Immersive Experiences Solution Manager, you’ll shape how employees learn, skill, and grow—designing transformative, data-driven learning journeys powered by AI, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), simulations, and game-based experiences.

The Senior Immersive Experiences Solution Manager is a pivotal role focused on transforming how Microsoft’s global workforce learns, grows, and builds future-ready capabilities. This role exists to deliver transformative learning experiences that intrinsically motivate individuals to learn and skill through exploration, demonstration, and real-world experiences. You’ll collaborate across engineering, Human Resources (HR), HR Business Insights (HRBI), HR Services and Digital Employee Experience (HRSDEE), Microsoft Digital (MSD), and global learning partners, applying Agile methodology to shape strategy, define success metrics, and deliver solutions that build critical skills with confidence and clarity. 



To help disrupt the future of learning in the age of AI, you’ll: 

Build out, manage and maintain Microsoft’s capabilities in immersive learning including technology, data, processes/practices/principles and human + AI capabilities.  Work with MSD, HRSDEE, MS product teams and others to identify/build, integrate and leverage emerging technologies and data intelligence to personalize and scale learning at speed.  Utilize, enable and activate across the learning and skilling federation gaming, real-world simulations, and AR/VR to deliver skilling at scale and improved time to proficiency/productivity.  Optimize immersive learning and skilling practices to quickly and effectively develop talent pipelines in anticipated skill areas to help Microsoft continue to lead the market.  Deliver scale ensuring hundreds of thousands of employees can learn, skill and grow pro-actively and simultaneously.

Partnership and Collaboration

Drives cross-team coordination and community of business and engineers to address highly complex challenges and opportunities in the areas of business and technology integrations, and to deliver technical solutions. Influences and garners support with internal stakeholders for solution vision, strategy, and road-map to gain buy in and alignment. Engages with stakeholders to clarify requirements for highly complex, high-impact solution, work through evolving needs and experiences, discuss scenarios, and communicate successful features and user stories. Advocates for priorities, deliverables, resources, and dependencies to deliver expected outcomes. Enable organizational readiness and adoption by equipping business and learning partners with tools, frameworks, and insights to successfully implement and evolve immersive learning solutions.  Achieve success through cross-functional teams and projects with Engineering, HRBI, MSD, HRSDEE, and Global Learning to co-create integrated, enterprise-ready learning solutions using Agile methodologies.  Partners with Engineering Teams to design road-map(s) for complex, high-impact solution area(s) and develop technical solutions. Serves as an expert to incorporate technical and business needs to the development of road-map for solution area(s). Defines the features and functionality of highly complex, high-impact solution areas for internal Microsoft products and tools, and/or configures the design features of a highly complex, high-impact solution.

Solution Definition and Design

Develops the vision, strategy, and experience of an highly complex, high-impact solution area for a domain area (e.g., hiring). Acts as a trusted advisor to align technical solutions with overall business strategic objectives. Design and enable immersive learning and skilling solutions and programs that integrate AR/VR, simulations, gaming, gamification, storytelling, and AI-driven personalization to deliver inclusive, engaging, and scalable skilling experiences aligned with Microsoft’s global skilling strategy.  Brings expertise to understand and translate the complex opportunity areas and problem statements into business requirements for the all engineering teams working on the solution. Translates the customer requirements to technical terms for the engineering team. Serves as an expert in understanding and prioritizing complex problems and solution areas. Guides others to identify transformational opportunities, privacy, compliance or employment experiences that will support achievement of business goals. Drives collaboration with internal stakeholders and customers to validate priorities and influence prioritization decisions to deliver solutions in a timely manner. Defines success criteria and performance metrics for a highly complex, high-impact solution. Acts as a trusted advisor to guide others to understand and identify operational and performance key performance indicators (KPIs), objectives and key results (OKRs), and success measures (e.g., adoption percentage, engagement, latency) for improving solutions. Solution Delivery and Maintenance

Partners with the Engineering Team to deliver highly complex, high-impact solution areas and minimize variance between estimates and actual project outcomes. Seeks and influences ways to leverage technical solutions across multiple customers. Develop and deliver immersive learning that solves business challenges through road-maps that balance strategic priorities with technical feasibility, while aligning stakeholders across diverse solution areas.  Deliver and evolve solutions at the pace of change by leading iterative development cycles, conducting user testing, and applying continuous feedback to optimize experience quality and accessibility.  Leads others when conducting user acceptance testing and/or focus groups to determine the end-user experience and needs. Provides expertise to mature the highly complex, high-impact solution after the solution is live by addressing customer concerns with thought leadership that may result in new intake. Utilizes success metrics to evaluate the performance of the technical solution. Leads others when engaging in customer support to gather feedback by reviewing Voice of Customers (VoC) tools that informs performance of the solution. Provides expertise in developing a pathway to resolve any issues. Evaluates the performance of the complex technical solution in achieving the overall business strategic objectives.

Thought Leadership

Utilizes a deep expertise in technology landscape and business operations to ensure technical and business solutions are congruent and connected to provide the right business value. Supports proof of concepts (POCs) and provides expertise to evaluate technology fits for customer needs by staying up to date with existing and emerging technologies. Utilizes best practices to provide trusted voice at the decision-making table for both business and technical teams. Identifies challenges and opportunities with an in-depth understanding of the business, technology, and solution delivery. Advocates for decisions that make the best use of resources to achieve the overall business strategic objectives. Prepares business users for complex change due to implementation of new technical solutions. Implements and monitors changes/adoptions. Partners across teams to engage and prepare internal audiences and evaluates results of the changes/adoptions. Facilitates information sharing of change through various tools and employee platforms. Leads the creation of a change plan, creates communication plans for new technical solutions. Define and utilize KPIs, OKRs to ensure effectiveness and value of immersive learning and skilling through learner feedback, and performance analytics to ensure solutions meet intended outcomes and deliver business impact. 

Portfolio/Project Management

Manages and communicates end-to-end project schedules for solution area(s). Holds stakeholders accountable for following the schedule. Tracks and manages work, dependencies, and resources against project schedules to enable cohesive, connected user scenarios and tactically utilizes finite resources to accomplish goals. Lead capability development in immersive learning and skilling by modeling, leveraging and developing within others deep expertise in learning, skilling, emerging technologies, immersive platforms, and enterprise learning trends—helping shape decisions, prepare stakeholders, and drive future readiness.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in engineering, operations, project management, or programming. OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in engineering, operations, project management, or programming OR equivalent experience.5+ years of experience designing and delivering immersive learning solutions or enterprise skilling initiatives, with demonstrated impact on engagement, skill acquisition, and business performance.  5+ years of proven experience working with immersive and emerging technologies such as AR/VR, simulations, AI/ML, or gamification in a learning, training, or experience design context. 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in engineering, operations, project management, or programming. OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years experience in engineering, operations, project management, or programming OR equivalent experience.Demonstrated expertise in building human capabilities and process/practices and principles that make immersive learning effective and successful.  Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience using data visualization, learning analytics, or predictive modeling, to drive solution design and strategy.  Champion design-centered, agile solution development by driving iterative prototyping, user research, and feedback loops that ensure immersive learning experiences are user-validated, accessible, and optimized for global scale.  Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in complex environments, with hands-on experience applying Agile methodologies; Agile certification (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, PMI-ACP) preferred.  Proven experience designing immersive and adaptive learning solutions at enterprise scale using technologies such as AR/VR, simulations, gamification, and AI-driven personalization.  Background in learning experience design, instructional strategy, or human-centered design with a track record of driving engagement and measurable learning outcomes.  Proficiency in learning analytics, data visualization, and predictive modeling, with the ability to surface actionable insights and inform strategic skilling decisions.  Experience designing contextual, in-the-flow-of-work learning experiences integrated into enterprise platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Viva, LMS, LXP, HRIS).  Demonstrated ability to leverage skills intelligence and behavioral telemetry to drive real-time, personalized learning pathways and performance interventions.  Strategic mindset with the ability to define and communicate a vision for immersive, AI-enabled learning ecosystems that scale across diverse roles, geographies, and business contexts.  Passion for emerging technology evaluation and experimentation, with hands-on experience assessing tools such as generative AI, wearables, and other future-focused platforms for enterprise learning.  Expertise in Agile methodologies and product management, with demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, digital skilling solutions.  Technical Solution Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
