Description

Overview

Azure Core is one of Azure’s most rapidly growing businesses, delivering a cloud platform designed to run a wide range of workloads. The Azure Core India Development Center (IDC) team builds the infrastructure that supports major Microsoft services such as Teams, Bing, Exchange, Xbox, Structured Query Language (SQL) Azure, Office 365, HDInsight, and Cosmos Database (Cosmos DB), as well as global customers across industries including retail, finance, logistics, gaming, and data analytics. These services and organizations rely on the infrastructure developed by the team to operate securely and efficiently at cloud scale.

As platform owners supporting diverse workloads, the team is responsible for meeting customer service level agreements (SLAs) and ensuring high standards for availability, reliability, performance, capacity, and efficiency. Customers expect high availability, seamless maintenance, workload resiliency despite hardware and system failures, and the ability to deploy and scale large numbers of virtual machines (VMs) and containers reliably. Meeting these expectations requires intelligent resource management, including oversubscription strategies, optimal workload placement, and low‑latency monitoring systems. Teams such as Azure Live Migration within the India Development Center (IDC) contribute to customer impact across availability, capacity, and efficiency pillars.

Delivering customer SLAs at scale requires designing and building systems across all layers of the Azure Core stack. This includes advancing the platform to support evolving workload demands, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring that the infrastructure remains resilient and adaptable for customers and services worldwide.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.
