We are seeking candidates who can span the stack from hardware to systems to applications, turning ideas into production systems at a rapid pace. Join us as a Hardware Engineer to build the world's fastest public cloud and make a difference to millions of people across the planet.As a Senior Hardware Engineer on the Accelnet hardware team, you will be responsible for building, testing, and deploying networking acceleration on Azure -- the largest deployment of FPGA SmartNICs in the world. You will develop the infrastructure for next-generation Software-Defined Networking (SDN), including arbitrary packet manipulations, reducing virtualization overhead, and improving connection setup performance for general and custom networking protocols. You should be able to drive projects with both hardware and software teams, and both inside and outside of Microsoft.
This is a unique opportunity for hardware developers to see their Register Transfer Level (RTL) code go to production within weeks instead of years, or for software developers to tap into the performance and efficiency of customized hardware. • Design, propose and oversee the analysis/evaluation of hardware architectures
• Design and code RTL modules written in Verilog / SystemVerilog and targeting FPGAs
• Simulate and perform hardware-based testing, debug, and verification of FPGA designs
• Scripting and basic software development in support of hardware design
• Apply Agile development methodologies including code reviews, sprint planning, and frequent deployment
• Handle a DevOps role with occasional on-call responsibilities for resolving customer issues in production
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical experience in digital logic design, development, and verification experience OR Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experienceOR equivalent experience.5+ years of experience in digital design, verification, or hardware development Other Qualifications:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in digital logic design and verification using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL, with deep knowledge of FPGA programming including timing closure, resource management, and IP library usage.1+ year(s) of experience developing and deploying cloud applications for hardware such as NICs and GPUs, and working with networking fundamentals including RDMA, SR-IOV, TCP, UDP, and IP.1+ year(s) of experience reading and writing code in languages such as C, C++, C#, SystemC, PowerShell, and/or Python, with a strong understanding of hardware verification methodologies.
Hardware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
