SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. To achieve this goal, the Cloud AI & Advanced Systems Engineering (CAASE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware.
For this role, we are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer with hardware test experience who will work with Microsoft’s internal teams as well as suppliers to develop, implement and execute qualification plans for Microsoft's world class Azure Cloud Server Systems. Qualification testing will target all aspects of the server environment (BIOS, BMC, Power, Memory, Storage, FPGA, Network, Performance, Stress, etc.) across multiple operating systems.

As a Qualification Lead, the primary responsibility is to plan and drive execution of server and rack level qualification testing. This will encompass new products and technologies as well as currently deployed hardware. Collaborate with Systems Engineering and automation ops teams to develop and refine test plans. Provide direction and leadership to supplemental test execution team members. Document and drive build out of qualification test framework environments. Lead root cause analysis through debug activities and drive to resolution issues found during testing Tight coordination with suppliers, vendors and internal teams to effectively plan for testing needs Embody our Culture and Values
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:7+ years of technical engineering experienceOR Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experienceOR Master's degree in Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experienceOR Doctorate degree in , Computer Engineering, or related field.7+ years of experience in server hardware architecture, design, development with demonstrated experience in hardware, firmware, and OS interfaces.3+ years of hardware validation/qualification testing

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of server system architecture Knowledge of networking, power, rack management and remote access environments Experience integrating and validating PCBAs, hardware components and/or systems Familiar with and able to develop scripts (Python, PowerShell) and routines to enable and accelerate data collection and data reduction via automation Proven collaboration and communications skills to work across internal divisions and industry (OEM, ODM, System Integrators) Able to demonstrate growth mindset and technical leadership in driving successful testing solutions Hardware Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
