Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, collaborative accounting professional who enjoys working independently and with high levels of responsibility to join our team. The Technical Accounting team applies complex accounting rules to unique transactions and is responsible for delivering holistic accounting conclusions for complex arrangements and deals.The Group Manager - Technical Accounting will be responsible for documenting and providing accounting conclusions for key consultations initiated by business partners such as go to market contracts with strategic partners, complex supply chain arrangements, leases, and other broad topics. This Group Manager - Technical Accounting role offers an opportunity to closely partner with business and finance teams across the company and work with a great team of experienced technical accounting professionals. This Group Manager - Technical Accounting position requires a collaborative and motivated individual who enjoys working with people to deeply understand the business strategy and related processes.

Consult on technical accounting areas such as leases fixed assets, capitalization of various costs, and other projects and consultations.Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Cloud Infrastructure, Treasury, Tax, and Operations on new arrangements and programs, ensuring US GAAP compliance.Bring together experts across teams to evaluate the holistic accounting implications of complex deals and partnershipsDocument accounting positions and memos for complex accounting topics in simple and clear style and be a liaison with external auditors and valuation expertsProvide expertise on special projects and other ad hoc requestsAct as a resource for various cross-group initiativesMonitor standard setting, work with subject matter SMEs to assess the impact on Microsoft and make necessary changes to policies and controls as appropriateMaintain deep and broad knowledge of GAAP and related accounting guidanceIdentify potential gaps and risks; propose solutions and work across teams to executeIdentify, evaluate, and legerage techonogy in performing responsibilitesDemonstrate speed and urgency and adapt to evolvingbusiness prioritiesEmbody our culture and values
Qualifications
Required/Minimum QualificationsMaster's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 6+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 7+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience6+ years of experience in Public Accounting
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 8+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 12+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experienceCertification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.Proficient US GAAP knowledge and experienceExperience in software, technology industryAccounting IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
