OverviewThe Enterprise Partner team drives Microsoft’s commercial partner business, focused on building and selling Microsoft Commercial Cloud solutions with and through partners to empower people and organizations.
The Industry Global Independent Software Vendor Partner Development Manager role is a unique opportunity to shape the direction of one of Microsoft’s most important set of GISV (Global Independent Software Vendor) partners across Microsoft’s Cloud Solution Areas. This is a leadership role reporting to the VP of Global ISV (Independent Software Vendor Sales). The scope includes managing a transformational partner sales team and taking leadership of our joint innovation strategy with a key, priority Microsoft partner to build highly differentiated solutions that maximize our joint impact across specific industries, target customer segments and personas.
This role will be a key influential team leader within Enterprise Partner Sales (EPS) and across Microsoft, with sales and technical acumen working across our engineering, sales, marketing, alliance, and legal teams to shape how we improve our engagement and execution with key partners in the co-innovation space.
The charter of the Industry GISV Partner Development Manager and the team is to develop and drive the partner engagement across the most exciting GISVs that play in the Industry Verticals, solution development, and commercial growth strategy across a top strategic GISV and Microsoft’s Solution Areas: Biz Apps, Data & AI, Apps & Infrastructure, Modern Work & Security. The role needs to provide leadership to build the right partner capacity and capabilities from within the existing ecosystem and through targeted partners aligned with the strategic needs of the industry.

Responsibilities
Partner Performance & Impact: Lead the GISV partner engagement, business growth strategy and overall partner performance (across technical, sales, go-to-market) across the Microsoft platform.
Build high impact relationships with partners’ senior leadership. Be the voice of Microsoft to the ISV Partner Ecosystem and in the Market.Own the ISV Partner Revenue, Co-Sell, Customer Acquisition, Consumption, and Usage contribution to Microsoft globally, in addition to the overall ISV Partners satisfaction and success.Own and define the Microsoft and partner co-innovation strategy including Microsoft Cloud product development and co-sell, with a shared vision of success for delivering joint product offerings to our mutual customers. Influence and drive execution of Partners’ joint innovation roadmap with a clear intent to maximize the market impact across specific industries, target customer segments and personas. Secure differentiated, joint product development commitments within a broader partnership agreement or as a stand-alone partnership agreement together with Alliance, Business Development and Legal teams.
Business Leadership: Demonstrate partner advocacy and sponsorship to drive scale and share through co–selling.
Build and maintain a clear differentiation roadmap by partner and industry with the key contributions from each partner and ensure our PDM (Partner Development Manager) and Seller community is well trained into it.Contribute to the successful market launch of agreed upon co-innovation and interoperability offerings together with the marketing and Go to Market teams—ensuring our field is aware of the importance and impact to their value conversations with customers. Ensure excellence in execution of GTM and co-sell strategies with partners and sales and scorecard KPI’s are always met and shared accountability between their PDM teams and other technical, sales, marketing and service teams are clear, agreed and exceeded. Influence leadership to align strategy and resources to help the team achieve targets as measured by revenue, consumption/usage, solution-build, skilling and partner satisfaction.
People Management: Lead and develop a diverse partner sales team that is motivated and agile.
Fostering an inspirational coaching culture that empowers the team to deliver and continuously learn. Collaborate closely with and provide leadership direction to internal solution development teams to set and secure the co-innovation priorities, projects, and joint partner engagements.Recruit, retain and manage a world-class high performing team of Partner Development Managers (PDM) that will transform and grow your partners’ businesses in the Microsoft cloud and build Microsoft solutions and services aligned with market opportunities. Oversee and be responsible for team commitments and strive for success. Ensure clarity of your direct reports’ roles and that every PDM Manager has a growth and development plan; perform and through a regular rhythm of connection, track progress and coach PDMMs(Partner Development Manager Managers) and PDMs to achieve their growth and career aspirations.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Operations, Computer Science or a related field AND 10+ years’ experience in partner management, sales, business development, or partner channel development in the technology industry or related experience OR equivalent experience.
5+ years of people management experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
Master’s degree in business administration, Business Science, or an Advanced Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or a related field AND 12+ years’ experience in partner management, sales, business development, or partner channel development in the technology industry or related experience OR equivalent experience.
8+ years of people management experience.
Partner Development Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,400 - $243,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,000 - $267,000 per year.
