Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Principal Financial Discovery Manager to join our newly formed Financial Discovery team within the Litigation department in the Corporate External and Legal Affairs Group (CELA). In this role, you will define and execute the response to financial data requests in a litigation/regulatory context.

This person will be a proven leader who can (1) successfully navigate our large and complex financial ecosystem, (2) effectively collaborate with stakeholders within and outside of Microsoft from various disciplines such as legal, finance, and data engineering; and (3) demonstrate enthusiasm and curiosity to explore emerging technologies and AI to evolve existing practices.

This role is based in our Redmond, WA office location.

You will coordinate with the Litigation/Regulatory team requiring financial data to define scope and clarify requests, leveraging your deep knowledge of Microsoft’s financial data and environment to establish clear focus and direction for the response.You will navigate Microsoft’s financial systems and teams to identify responsive data, thoroughly vet its accuracy, critically evaluate sufficiency of data for addressing legal requirements, source additional data, and solve data issues and gaps.Using tools such as Excel, SQL, and Azure Synapse, you will identify, analyze, and extract responsive data, identifying data nuances or limitations through robust dialogue with individual business groups, data stewards, and database owners.You will apply data and legal process expertise to determine analytical tools and techniques, then lead others to analyses and make recommendations. You’ll also identify gaps, provide feedback, and recommend ways to improve analytical tools.You will determine the preferred factors and/or data types to include in evaluations, independently accounting for risks. You’ll proactively synthesize results across multiple evaluations, identify relevant connections to other work, and make recommendations that drive successful outcomes.By establishing and leveraging relationships across teams, you’ll ensure quality data sources, methodologies, and analytical tools and processes. You’ll then drive the implementation of methods that make core analytical and reporting work efficient, and develop and implement automated methods of data collection and analysis.Embody our Culture and Values

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysisOR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysisOR equivalent experience.5+ years experience with Microsoft’s financial processes and reporting technologies & systems, such as MS Sales, Mercury, Azure Health, Modern Work, Apps and Game Purchase Cube etc.5+ years experience with civil litigation discovery processesPreferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in Excel, familiarity with relational databases, and an aptitude for learning other tools to handle larger datasets such as SQL and Azure Synapse Proficient and clear verbal and written communication skills and meticulous attention to detailBusiness Analytics IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.
