Description
OverviewThe Non‑People Controller is responsible for end‑to‑end financial governance and execution across ECIF operations, External Resources, Revenue Adjustments, and Azure internal usage for the Americas. This role ensures strong controls, accurate forecasting, timely close and accruals, and effective spend management, while partnering closely with stakeholders to support approvals (including CFO‑level), resolve operational challenges, and drive insights through analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
Funding Sources & Cost Governance: Own end‑to‑end understanding of non‑people funding sources, including ECIF, External Resources (XR), Revenue Adjustments, and Azure Internal Usage. Ensure the appropriate funding mechanism is applied based on program intent, spend type, and accounting treatment, while maintaining strong financial controls.
Program & Policy Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert on ECIF programs, XR spend frameworks, Revenue Adjustment policies, and Azure Internal Usage guidance. Ensure all activities adhere to program requirements, finance policies, and compliance standards across Americas P&L‑funded programs.
System Approvals & Financial Controls: Review and approve requests landing in finance systems for ECIF, XR, Revenue Adjustments, and Azure Internal Usage. Validate ROI alignment, milestone delivery timelines, forecast accuracy, and policy compliance, including support for CFO‑level approvals on complex or high‑value cases.
Forecasting, Accruals & Month‑End Close: Own forecasting, accruals, and month‑end close activities for ECIF, External Resources, Revenue Adjustments, and Azure Internal Usage. Ensure accurate financial reporting, timely close execution, and alignment between forecast, actuals, and outlook.
Root‑Cause Analysis & Issue Resolution: Lead root‑cause analysis for approval delays, ECIF delivery challenges, XR spend variances, Revenue Adjustment fluctuations, accrual gaps, and invoice payment issues. Drive corrective actions and process improvements to strengthen end‑to‑end financial execution.
Reporting, Insights & Enablement: Deliver ad‑hoc and recurring reporting across ECIF, XR, Revenue Adjustments, and Azure Internal Usage to surface trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide training and guidance to requesters and stakeholders on how to leverage existing reporting to drive informed decision‑making and optimal fund utilization.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Process Optimization: Partner closely with Finance, Area Win Room, GTFS, Azure stakeholders, vendor operations, and business teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and well‑governed end‑to‑end processes across non‑people spend categories.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.This role follows a hybrid work model and is based in Redmond, Washington OR Atlanta, GA. Employees are expected to work on-site in Redmond OR Atlanta on a regular, recurring basis in alignment with business and team needs. Additional or preferred qualifications:Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 3+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 5+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
