Overview

The Commercial Products & Infrastructure (CPI) org is responsible for enabling business decisions to drive revenue, shape capex investments, manage cloud & AI capacity, deliver margin excellence, and ensure ongoing resource allocation aligned to strategic engineering priorities. Within CPI, the Resource Investment Strategy finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving team that partners deeply with engineering leaders to ensure $20B+ resources across ~100K engineering full time equivalent (FTE) are continuously aligned to strategic engineering priorities.

We currently have an opening for a highly motivated Finance Manager- Engineering COGs and Research & Development (R&D) to join the Resource Investment Strategy finance team supporting key Engineering leaders. This role covers a wide range of responsibilities which includes various modeling and business analysis, partnering with engineering leaders on resource allocation decisions, and managing efficient financial processes. The position requires a motivated and agile system thinker who can demonstrate intellectual curiosity and navigate ambiguity and complexity to be trusted finance partners to our engineering leaders.

This role will accelerate your understanding on the development and execution of product strategy, how finance develops frameworks to influence leadership on resource decisions, all while being part of the highly driven team that is committed to your professional development and fun!

Responsibilities

路 Partner with engineering and broader finance organization to understand investments and expenses results and trends. Communicate insights in a simple and concise manner regarding the state of the business to key stakeholders. Generate actionable plans based on complex results and ambiguous findings. Implement creative ways to show patterns and draw conclusions to help drive decisions.

路 Develop and review multi-year time horizon long range financial spend plans.

路 Business planning and forecasting - Develop and review target setting, forecast and budget models incorporating insights, risk, and opportunities. Ensure consistency in methodologies and assumptions. Improve forecast accuracy.

路 Own, drive and innovate efficient financial rhythms and reporting. Conceptualize and design new approaches to how financial data is collected and evaluated to impact future outcomes and decisions. Understand the interconnections between data, information, and results and translate into forward looking narratives and forecasts.

路 Establish trusted partnerships with and take shared responsibility for driving business outcomes (profitable growth, market share, AI leadership). Apply understanding of the broader Microsoft context and external market trends to offer impactful solutions to ensure business objectives are met.

路 Ensure compliance in reporting financial information through approved instruments and processes, and consistency with corporate policies.

路 Apply understanding of advanced technology to accomplish business goals and provide greater depth of analysis.

路 Drive learning from others and sharing best practices across team boundaries.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field OR equivalent experience. Additional or preferred qualifications路 Proficient technical skills (Excel, Power BI and SQL)

路 Demonstrated experience in developing complex financial models, excellent quantitative analysis and forecasting skills.

路 Ability to influence and impact without authority, operate in ambiguity, and solve difficult problems, combined with the ability to prioritize and function well in a dynamic and matrixed environment.

路 Communication & presentation skills. Can easily present complex financial issues to non-finance executives.

路 Interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills. Ability to drive simplicity within a complex and matrix environment

路 Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, and quickly prioritize for biggest impact

路 Possess a learning mindset with aptitude for understanding product and business strategy

Financial Analysis IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 - $151,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $168,000 per year.
