Commercial Products and Infrastructure (CPI) Finance is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft’s cloud-first strategy.

The team’s charter is to build-out Microsoft’s end-to-end cloud infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve both profit and gross margin growth. As a crucial member of the team you will support long term bets and drive competitive intelligence to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition, while enhancing transparency into cloud infrastructure investments, and safeguarding shareholder value.

CPI Infra and Margins finance team is responsible for margin strategy and investment optimization for cloud products including Modern Work.

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Finance Manager, Substrate to partner with engineering and business leaders to deeply understand, influence, and manage the gross margin health of Office product Exchange/Substrate. The role partners with engineering and finance to model, plan, and implement structural efficiencies, and long-term bets. The team partners with engineering and finance partners to support the Gross Margin (GM) health of Office 365 Commercial businesses. Join us and help shape the future of our cloud products.

Oversee financial health of Exchange/Substrate through forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and long-range planning to achieve steady-state gross margin. Continuously enhance financial models to reflect business evolution. Partner with engineering to drive product profitability, offering insights and recommendations to meet Cost of Goods Sold

(COGS) and margin goals. Lead cost optimization and scenario planning and define action plans with stakeholders. Deliver actionable insights to business leaders via recurring reports, trend analysis, and variance resolution. Ensure accountability and execution of financial strategies. Collaborate with Azure engineering and finance to identify cross-functional cost efficiencies, with emphasis on Compute optimization across Office products. Synthesize diverse data into clear narratives and communicate results effectively, demonstrating strong business acumen. Ensure compliance with policies and regulations by reviewing financial processes and documents. Advise on policy adherence and coordinate with Compliance teams.

Qualifications

Minimum/Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience. 4+ years professional experience using analytical skills, financial modeling capabilities, and strategic thinking to contribute to project or task successPreferred Qualifications

Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, rapidly moving environments with evolving technology and business model trends Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple way. Executive level oral and written communication skills. Proven leadership skills, with demonstrated results in proactively driving and delivering high value/high-impact project results through both individual and v-team efforts Partnering capabilities, with the ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back when required Comfort working at multiple altitudes, from strategic/high-level projects to detailed COGS analysis Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, quickly prioritize for impact and the resourcefulness to deliver

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
