Description

The goal of our Central Finance Team (CFT) is to provide key insights that help Microsoft make better financial and business decisions. Our team is at the hub of Microsoft's financial activities, being a key strategic partner to all sides of the business and serving a diverse set of stakeholders: CFOs (Chief Financial Officers), leadership team, engineering groups, and sales and marketing teams.

The Finance Manager, Central Finance Team, role cuts across revenue, gross margin and planning initiatives with executive presence to land key messages with Microsoft's leadership team. You will drive COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) / Capex (capital expenditures) analytics for the company, leveraging that knowledge to deliver insights through Quarter Close and Forecast process and support strategic presentations to our executives, board, and sales organization.

We are looking for a Finance professional with adept modeling and analytical skills to successfully analyze Microsoft revenue and gross margin drivers, comfortably operate in ambiguity/whitespace topics, and create frameworks as we navigate through the AI (artificial intelligence) era. Additionally, building cross-team relationships effectively and communicating clearly and succinctly to management will be critical for this role.

Design and lead company-wide COGS framework to deliver insights into spending across cost categories and land accountability across various teams.Partner with Gross Margin Lead within CFT to identify risks/opportunities.Partner with Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) team to understand cost trends and highlight risks/opportunities.Collaborate with AI P&L (Profit & Loss) Lead to articulate various moving parts of our actual and forecasted spend.Support planning team on revenue and margin target assumptions.Identify key metrics to help focus on strategic direction of the company.Drive special projects as required.Embody our culture and values

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.2+ years of financial or data modeling and analysis experience. Additional or Preferred QualificationsMasters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 3+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 5+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.Familiarity with Microsoft financial processes and reporting technologies and systems, such as MS Sales, Mercury, Plancast, MSRA, etc.Management, prioritization and organization skills, along with drive for results and impact competencies.Interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with cross-group collaboration and executive presence.

Financial Analysis IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 - $151,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $168,000 per year.
