Description
We are the Threat Model System team in Azure. The Threat Model System is a cloud-based service that helps Azure engineers build secure-by-design services. We are looking for a Principal Engineering Manager who models technical and service excellence and embraces Microsoft cultural values to help drive the security of Azure forward. This team leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to analyze a service’s design for potential security defects and suggests appropriate mitigations to these issues. The team works closely with security experts across the company to incorporate security best practices.Do you see yourself as a coach, a guide, a collaborator, and an engineer? • Lead and support a team of 8 engineers to deliver on business objectives.
• Collaborate closely with a team of threat modeling experts to define new product features.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance and live site.
• Drive modern engineering practices such as continuous integration, unit testing, automated deployments with integrated quality gates.
• Partner with Product Management to meet immediate and longer-term business objectives.
• Hire, retain, and grow top talent.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience as an engineering manager or a technical lead Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
Cloud and services experience; Azure cloud experience is a plus.Proficient analytical skills with systematic and structured approaches to software design.Passion for building reliable and well-tested code.Experience with ASP.NET Core, HTML, CSS, Typescript, Kubernetes, Linux, ReactAbility to communicate technical details clearlyPassion for coaching and mentoring othersSoftware Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
