We use a variety of tools, including experimentation, econometric analysis, machine learning, and economic theory to develop insights that drive executive action. We are looking for a Senior Economist who can work on high-profile problems and bring a unique and valued perspective to the Security division.

Understand our division's biggest business strategy decisions and help formalize them as scientific questions that can be answered with data and theory.Design and execute econometric analyses, RCTs, and quasi-experiments to measure key customer, product, and business outcomes.Operationalize and scale your solutions to our $25B security business.Query and analyze business data to provide insights into complex business functions.Write clear, accessible reports to communicate your analysis for executive consumption.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research).OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).OR equivalent experience.4+ years of experience in statistics, causal inference, and machine learning demonstrated through a combination of driving cutting-edge research into real-world impact, peer-reviewed publications, and public code projects.3+ years of experience scientific computing with R or Python (Statsmodels, EconML, DoubleML) and large-scale data processing tools.

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).OR equivalent experience.3+ years experience creating publications (e.g., patents, libraries, peer-reviewed academic papers).Experience presenting at conferences or other events in the outside research/industry community as an invited speaker.3+ years experience conducting research as part of a research program (in academic or industry settings).1+ year(s) experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team.1+ year(s) experience developing and deploying products or systems at multiple points in the product cycle from ideation to shipping.Knowledge of security, threat intelligence and hunting, anti-fraud systems, and social engineering research.Experience with large-scale data processing tools.Proficient in training machine learning models.
Applied Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
