Overview

The Microsoft Datacenter Development Land Development Organization supports the development and delivery of Microsoft’s datacenter portfolio from site selection through design, permitting, construction and operation. The MS datacenter development portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects.

Microsoft is looking for an Early Works Program Manager to preposition capacity for datacenter campus sites to a condition ready for permanent works. This will include a regional portfolio of projects with a wide variety of unique requirements including building demolition, environmental remediation, grading, vegetation removal, substation construction, etc. The Early Works Program Manager will be a key contributor in the execution of the Microsoft pre-construction program and regional datacenter campus project delivery. This role will require regular engagement with key Microsoft stakeholders, as well as strategic engagement with General Contractors, AHJs and other external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage LDC Early Works Projects to ensure timely execution of all procurement activities associated with resourcing and materials necessary for delivering Early Works projects on time and within project budget forecasts. Preparation of requests for proposals, review and approve vendor scope of work, and monitor vendor performance by ensuring compliance with contracts and prior audit results.Create lessons learned register and apply best practices for driving cost-effective solutions to deliver pad ready sites and monitor turnover and warranty for completed Early Works sites.Coordination of internal Microsoft stakeholders and external contractors, vendors, and resources as required for project delivery.Reviews and assists with developing risk mitigation activities and communicating metrics, dashboards and/or scorecards to track and drive progress.Assists with the monitoring of vendor and/or contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contracts and prior audit results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.7+ years experience working on data center projects.Demonstrated background in project management and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive desired outcomes.Demonstrated general knowledge and experience with a broad variety of construction means and methods.Experience with the contracting and delivery of large programs of works.  Experience managing a portfolio of projects and associated budgets and schedules.   Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cross-functional and positive working relationships with internal and external teams.#COICareers | #EPCCareers | #DCDCareers

Construction Project Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
