Description
OverviewThe Microsoft Datacenter Development Land Development Organization supports the development and delivery of Microsoft’s datacenter portfolio from site selection through design, permitting, construction and operation. The MS datacenter development portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects.
Microsoft is looking for an Early Works Execution Manager for the AMERS West region to preposition capacity for datacenter campus sites to a condition ready for permanent works. This will include a regional portfolio of projects with a wide variety of unique requirements including building demolition, environmental remediation, grading, vegetation removal, substation construction, etc. The Early Works Execution Manager will be a key contributor in the execution of the Microsoft pre-construction program and regional datacenter campus project delivery. This role will require regular engagement with key Microsoft stakeholders, as well as strategic engagement with General Contractors, AHJs and other external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage LDC Early Works Construction Programs and Strategy regionally supporting Microsoft datacenter development and delivery through site selection, due diligence, constructability review, permitting and early site development.Facilitate the delivery of metro-based/campus early site works and report on project scope, schedule, budget, and progress for LDC Early Works projects.Advance Early Works campus/metro construction programs, ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements by conducting routine safety programs, site audits, and performing incident investigations while communicating risk mitigation goals and developing metrics to drive progress.Coordinate with key internal and external counterparts to execute effective constructability review and risk evaluation strategies for new geographies.Preparation of requests for proposals, review and approve vendor scope of work, and monitor vendor performance by ensuring compliance with contracts and prior audit results.Create and apply best practices for driving cost-effective solutions to deliver pad ready sites and monitor the approved project budget while overseeing and implementing project controls.Coordination of internal Microsoft stakeholders and external contractors, vendors, and resources as required for project delivery.Facilitate decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage change as required across all LDC projects in the portfolio.Represent Microsoft in engagement with relevant authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ), external stakeholders, and the public to address potential risks and facilitate on-time datacenter delivery.Develop construction prepositioning strategy and policy programs to support future datacenter development. 
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience OR equivalent experience. 12+ years experience working on data center projects.Demonstrated project management experience and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive desired outcomes.10+ years of progressive responsibility in development and delivery of complex capital projects and programs.Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a broad variety of construction means and methods.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cross-functional and positive working relationships with internal and external teams.#COICareers | #EPCCareers | #DCDCareers
Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
