We are seeking a tech-savvy, dynamic and visionary Senior Director, Surface Product Marketing to head our Microsoft Surface Product Strategy and Product Marketing team. This individual will lead the Product Marketing discipline, championing the customer, defining compelling product value propositions, and crafting key messaging and storytelling for the portfolio. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with a passion for AI, digital transformation and amplifying the value of Microsoft hardware and software together to deliver customer value. In particular, the person should have passion for the future of silicon, NPU (Neural Processing Unit), GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and CPU (Central Processing Unit) innovations. The One Surface Marketing team connects engineering to product marketing to sales execution across the consumer and commercial partner channel always with a fast-pace, ever changing competitive market landscape. Expertise in hardware and software, silicon technology along with product, channel, and funnel marketing are desired.This leader possesses respect for following product marketing rhythms, an ability to collaborate across engineering, marketing and sales teams in consumer and commercial channels to ensure alignment on strategy and go-to-market scenarios. The role involves working across Surface Engineering, Business Planning, Integrated Marketing, Communications, Windows and all relevant product marketing teams. The leader will be responsible for understanding future markets, consumer and commercial demand, and delivering strategy growth all while fostering an inclusive culture where diverse talents achieve excellence. As a core member of this team, you’ll help shape the future of how people interact with technology — seamlessly, intuitively, and with purpose — while driving the business forward to empower more customers. As the head of Surface Product Strategy and Product Marketing, you will lead a product marketing team that manages the full line of the Surface Portfolio defining product vision and strategy while working in close collaboration with leaders across engineering, design, finance, marketing, and operations. You will lead a group of talented product marketing managers who partner with a world-class Surface Product and Program Management team to deliver exceptional product experiences across hardware and software.
This role is based in Redmond, Washington. In this role, you'll lead through uncertainty, turning concepts into product visions with clear roadmaps and requirements. You'll align stakeholders to drive business growth and operational excellence, monitor market trends and competitors, and identify strategic opportunities or risks.
Your work involves understanding customer needs, collaborating with marketing, shaping product storytelling for Surface, and advocating for both products and customers. You'll also promote continuous improvement in the Product Management team by integrating AI to boost strategic impact.

Product Marketing Strategy: Define and drive the marketing strategy for Microsoft Surface products and the software that runs on them, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and objectives. Competitive Analysis: Understand how Surface products compete within the industry and define competitive positioning and narrative.Engineering Process Alignment: Collaborate with engineering team to follow product design and development steps to understand competition, scenario planning and ultimately drive growth and increase Surface sales and product usage. Surface Activations: Drive brand love and advocacy through launch events and in person activations and experiences. Thought Leadership: Inspire storytelling that engages fans and customers with influential voices. Support Field Readiness: Host product disclosures and engage with field teams, retail market makers and commercial platinum partners to grow the Surface Business through digital marketing, readiness, skilling and sales enablement. Qualifications
Required/minimum qualificationsMaster's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in businessOR equivalent experience.6+ years people management experience.6+ years of experience in product management, product marketing, product planning, or category management.Additional or preferred qualificationsMaster's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 12+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 15+ years experience in businessOR equivalent experience.8+ years people management experience.Experience across consumer and commercial customer engagement and comfort presenting in front of large or small audiences.Track record of leading and managing product marketing, customer engagement and digital marketing teams.
Experience with sales, engineering, and marketing executives.
Innovative and strategic thinking and execution skills, with the ability to drive marketing initiatives that align with business goals.
Experience in tracking and analyzing marketing performance, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Passion for enhancing customer engagement and driving brand advocacy through innovative marketing strategies.
Product Marketing M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,800 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,400 - $303,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
