Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) organization, which drives our cloud business, is expanding. Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) organization is responsible for supporting Datacenter Operations and Critical Environments globally, enabling the infrastructure that underpins this growth, including AI.

We are seeking a Director, Supplier Relationship Management with a proven track record and passion for using data and processes to achieve desired outcomes. This role will be part of our Core Datacenter Procurement (CDP) team, which falls under the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) organization. Reporting directly to the Head of Supplier Relationship Management within the CDP team, the candidate will play a key role in understanding operational business challenges and driving the right level of supplier performance and relationship engagement. This individual will work closely with global datacenter operations, services, procurement, and other business areas to advance Microsoft’s supplier performance and relationship management initiatives.

The Director, Supplier Relationship Management is a motivated transformational change agent responsible for advancing strategic supplier performance and partnerships to enable Microsoft to be the Customer & Partner of Choice. This role will require a high degree of collaboration, level communication, change management, and experience leading supplier performance and relationship programs.

The candidate selected should have deep expertise in driving change at scale using analytics, process design, and influential communication & presentation to leaders & executives that span large internal & external global organizations. Problem solving through analytics creation, process engineering, effective presentation, as well as a hands-on program management approach to drive change internally & externally is critical.

Supplier Engagement Programs: Lead Supplier Engagement programs for assigned supplier categories or regions, working closely with Procurement & Global Operations Teams. Focus on driving supplier-related actions and achieving desired outcomes in collaboration with datacenter Operations, Services and Procurement teams. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication: Partner with stakeholders to understand and document business processes, requirements, and challenges that specifically impact supplier performance and relationships. Identify and implement opportunities to enhance datacenter availability, security, and efficiency by working with Data Center Operations, Core Datacenter Services, Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other cross functional teams. Ensure ongoing stakeholder alignment by keeping them informed of progress and updates through regular reviews and effective communication. Relationship Management: Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with strategic suppliers, interfacing with executives and project teams globally at Microsoft and across the supplier’s leadership chain. Establish common goals, drive effective communication, and ensure alignment between key stakeholders and suppliers to enhance supplier performance and outcomes. Supplier Performance and Feedback Assessments: Conduct and analyze internal assessments to evaluate supplier business performance and trends, and external assessments to gather supplier feedback. Use insights from both internal assessments (Voice of the Business) and external assessments (Voice of the Supplier) to inform supplier performance reviews and business planning. Supplier Escalation Management: Establish Supplier Escalation procedures and frameworks with clearly defined escalation paths to ensure the right people are involved at the right time. Manage issue resolution through closure, ensuring accountability for supplier performance and contractual obligations. Rhythm of Business Planning & Reviews: Develop and Drive the rhythm of business for Business Planning & Supplier Performance Reviews with Microsoft and supplier cross-functional teams. Capture key actions, conduct gap analysis, manage action items to closure, and develop action plans for underperforming suppliers. OKR Tracking & Reporting: Define and track Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to measure the effectiveness of the supplier performance and relationship program. Prepare and report on the progress of these OKRs during monthly internal business reviews, ensuring alignment with SRM team performance objectives and internal reporting requirements. Supplier Engagement Approach: Ensure a unified supplier engagement approach is implemented and recognized by suppliers, ensure consistent supplier management practices. Data Analysis & Visualization: Lead the collation, management, and analysis of supplier performance and compliance data, including data transformation and visualization processes. Utilize visual techniques to convey complex data, improving awareness and accelerating decision-making to drive supplier performance. Risk Assessment Initiatives: Drive supplier engagement and risk assessment transformation initiatives across large cross-functional teams. Act as a thought leader to enhance Supplier Relationship Management processes and tools. Supplier Reporting & Documentation Management: Develop, centralize, and maintain comprehensive supplier performance and relationship overviews through dashboards, presentations, and communications. Organize and manage all supplier engagement and performance documentation, including market intelligence for assigned supplier categories, to ensure accurate and accessible information for informed decision-making. Implementation Oversight: Oversee the deployment of technological solutions and user-friendly dashboards for applications such as Supplier Spend Analytics, Supplier Scorecards, and Supplier Contact and Escalations Management, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations or related field AND 8+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement

OR equivalent experience.

8+ years of experience in managing supplier performance and relationships within Supply Chain, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, and/or Supplier Governance, in technology or heavy industrial manufacturing sectors. 8+ years of experience in effectively communicating complex business and technical information, both verbally and in writing, to internal leadership and supplier executives, with a focus on creating clarity and promoting alignment. 6+ years of people management experience.5+ years of experience in facilitating discussions and specifically leading supplier business reviews, workshops, and engagement sessions. Demonstrated ability to drive supplier performance improvements, manage escalations, and align stakeholders through effective communication and structured facilitation. Other Requirements:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

6+ years of experience in leading large cross-functional teams in project/program management and/or Kaizen facilitation, focusing on business operations and technology process improvements.5+ years of experience in developing and implementing data analytics, business metrics, and evaluation systems such as scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier performance and continuous improvement.2+ years of experience in the datacenter domain with knowledge of data center infrastructure, construction and equipment (e.g. Electrical Distribution, Mechanical Cooling Systems) Skills in data analytics, including Excel, Power BI, and data visualization tools. Ability to transition seamlessly between hands-on detailed analysis and strategic, big-picture thinking. Ability to drive change management initiatives, applying various tools and methodologies to solve complex problems and implement strategic improvements. Ability to lead and collaborate across multiple organizational levels, effectively managing ambiguity and complexity.Experience handling complex projects, influencing stakeholders, and maintaining high performance under deadlines in a dynamic environment.Master's of Business Administration or Master’s degree in a related technical field.Experience with top-tier management consulting or Big-4 firm.Lean/Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification.

Business Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
