The Minecraft Social, Influencer & Innovation team is seeking a Director, Social Media to lead the Minecraft global social media strategy and execution across the Minecraft franchise. Based in Redmond, WA, this role sits within Mojang Studios Marketing and is responsible for shaping how social media drives measurable business outcomes while maintaining world-class creative quality. The Director will oversee social media across platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Pinterest, spanning the base game, Marketplace, IP expansion, experiences beyond the game (i.e., entertainment, consumer products, partnerships), and Minecraft Education. This role requires a leader who brings equal depth in creative vision and business strategy, with a clear point of view on how social contributes to growth, engagement, and long-term franchise value.
Responsibilities
Own the global social media vision, strategy, and operating model for @Minecraft, ensuring social media is a core driver of business impact, not just a publishing function.Lead end-to-end Minecraft social strategy across all major platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Pinterest, with a platform-native approach to content, cadence, and creative formats.Set and evolve creative quality bars, ensuring Minecraft’s social presence remains culturally relevant, innovative, and distinctive while scaling across a high-volume, global content ecosystem.Translate business priorities into social strategies across the full franchise, including the base game (Vanilla Minecraft), Marketplace, IP expansion, entertainment and experiences, consumer products, partnerships, and Minecraft Education.Establish clear success metrics that connect social performance to business outcomes, including acquisition, engagement, monetization, and franchise health, in close partnership with analytics and business teams.Lead a high-performing social media organization, defining roles, responsibilities, workflows, and decision-making frameworks that enable speed, accountability, and creative excellence.Drive a social-first mindset across marketing, product, and partner teams, influencing upstream planning so social considerations are embedded early in go-to-market strategies.Contribute to editorial planning and prioritization, balancing always-on franchise storytelling with tentpole moments, product launches, and cultural opportunities.Partner closely with creative, influencer, affiliate, brand, product, media, and regional marketing teams to ensure alignment, integration, and clear ownership across channels.Use data and insights to continuously optimize strategy, content mix, and resource allocation, scaling what works and sunsetting efforts that do not deliver impact.Manage agency and external partner relationships as needed, ensuring output meets creative, operational, and business standards.Act as aleader and trusted partner within Mojang Studios, bringing a clear point of view, strong executive communication, and the ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experienceOR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years social media marketing OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 7+ years social media marketingOR equivalent experience.3+ years people management experience.Knowledge of Minecraft; and understanding of the Minecraft community and franchise.Experience working with global brands and practical experience creating both global and regional strategies.Self-starter that has experience working with executive leadership.

Integrated Marketing M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
