Description
OverviewThe Cloud and AI Platforms (CAPM) organization is a big picture team at our core that encourages a diverse and inclusive culture. We are respectful, collaborative, honest, accountable, and caring. Employees on the team can expect to have opportunities to grow their own experiences and career while shaping the future of the major businesses with data-informed strategies.
We are growth strategists who enable the Microsoft mission by creating durable profit growth through high-impact monetization strategies, packaging, and pricing. Our charter is significant and spans key growth engines for the company including all Azure solution areas, Windows client and cloud offerings, and our Education and industry offerings and programs. We are seeking a Director of Global Growth Strategy and Operations to join our team.
The Director of Global Growth Strategy & Operations will lead Azure’s regional pricing, and sovereign cloud strategy and operations taking a yield optimization lens. This role sits within Global Growth & Revenue Optimization (GGRO) and is accountable for defining regional monetization strategy, building scalable operating models, and driving continuous optimization across global public and sovereign regions.
This leader will operate at the intersection of pricing strategy, yield management, experimentation, and execution—translating complex supply, demand, regulatory, and competitive signals into repeatable frameworks that maximize customer value, capacity utilization, and long‑term profitability.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
Regional Pricing Strategy
Own Azure’s global and regional pricing strategy, balancing customer value, competitive dynamics, infrastructure supply constraints, and long‑term return on investment.Lead Azure’s regional yield optimization approach, defining how pricing, offers, and incentives are used to shape demand, improve utilization, and optimize revenue across regions.Partner with data science and economics teams to embed supply‑ and demand‑aware pricing signals into decision‑making, moving beyond static price parity models.Define pricing principles, guardrails, and escalation frameworks that enable speed while protecting strategic and financial objectives.Experimentation & Price Optimization
Establish a disciplined experimentation and price optimization motion across regions and sovereign clouds, including test design, success metrics, and learning loops.Drive targeted pricing experiments (e.g., regional differentials, time‑based pricing, capacity‑aligned offers, or SKU constructs) to test elasticity, customer behavior, and yield outcomes.Convert experimental insights into scaled pricing and yield strategies, ensuring learnings are institutionalized rather than one‑off.Partner with product, engineering, and finance teams to ensure experimentation is operationally feasible and financially governed.Sovereign Cloud Strategy & Monetization
Lead the end‑to‑end sovereign cloud pricing, yield, and monetization strategy across government and sovereign offerings.Define sovereign value propositions and pricing models that reflect differentiated cost structures, regulatory constraints, and strategic importance.Ensure consistency and coherence across sovereign cloud types while preserving flexibility for market‑specific and customer‑specific requirements.Partner closely with Azure Global, legal, compliance, and engineering teams to align pricing and yield strategies with sovereignty, security, and regulatory requirements.Operational Excellence & Execution
Own the operations for regional expansion and pricing actions within public and sovereign clouds.Translate strategy into operational reality: pricing readiness, meter and system alignment, launch execution, and post‑launch optimization.Identify and remove bottlenecks in pricing and yield operations, reducing cycle time and improving responsiveness to market and supply signals.Ensure tight feedback loops between performance measurement, experimentation, and strategy refinement.Cross‑Functional Leadership & Influence
Act as a senior integrator across product, engineering, finance, sales, marketing, and regional launch teams.Influence senior leadership through clear articulation of pricing and yield trade‑offs, supported by data, experimentation results, and scenario analysis.Represent regional pricing, yield management, and sovereign strategy in executive forums, investment discussions, and planning cycles.Team Leadership & Talent Development
