Description
Join the Microsoft Business Planning team to define the business and monetization strategy across Modern Work applications for our commercial customers. This leadership role is responsible creating strategies and business models to grow the Microsoft 365 subscription business with consumers. AI is dramatically changing what the market expects from our Modern Work offers. Engineering is rapidly developing new capabilities and entirely new products, changing the entire value equation with our commercial customers. If so, join the Commercial Business Planning team! This team centralizes our efforts across the Modern Work commercial app portfolio, including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and more. This is an opportunity to lead our product and business model transformation to grow a multi-billion-dollar business. This will require a strategic thinker who can help evolve the business in a changing landscape to address key market trends and customer needs and capitalize on new opportunities. In this role, you will be responsible for providing thought leadership in defining our strategy and business models through subscription SKUs, pricing, licensing, and business model innovation as well a growing and coaching a team of high performing business planners.Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. This is a highly visible role that will require expertise in several areas: 1) people and team management; 2) collaborating and developing relationships with engineering, marketing and other teams across the company; 3) business thought leadership and executive presence; 4) excellent written and verbal communication skills and 5) cross-company strategic alignment. • Identify & assess market opportunities to drive business strategy and build complete business cases to support new growth investment opportunities
• Present, influence and align executives and the broader organization through cross-functional v-team work
• Influence engineering roadmaps based on market opportunity, competitive landscape, and economic impact
• Provide thought leadership on cross Microsoft initiatives across the commercial business, optimizing for global maxima
• Develop key metrics, forecasts, and reporting in partnership with finance and engineering to monitor business performance

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
7+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
3+ years people management experience. Additional or Preferred Qualifications
5+ years people management experience. 12+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field OR 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field OR equivalent experience. Successful history of driving tangible business strategy changes and resultsSuccessful track-record of cross-functional collaboration with teams, contributors, and stakeholders across multiple seniority levels including executives Proven track record in planning and orchestrating strategic and complex business activities Ability to excel in an ambiguous environment and reprioritize to align with business objectives Analytical thinking and communication skills with the ability to influence
Business Planning M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.
