The Xbox Experiences and Platforms team is home to the design and engineering work that makes this vision possible. We build the developer tools and services that enable game creators to craft incredible experiences, the commerce systems that connect publishers with their audience. Our team helps gamers engage with their next favorite games, the platforms on which those games play at their best, and the experiences that turn every screen into an Xbox.

As a Principal Design Architect for the Xbox Design team, you will:

Be a pathfinder. As a curious and passionate learner, you will often be the first to innovate, discover a new UX pattern or unlock a customer solution. When you do this, you’ll create a path for others too.Influence and impact through making. As a team of makers, we believe in the value of showing and sharing experiences through design. Your story telling will be customer focused and articulate their journey.Partner across the design org. Your work will naturally intersect with experienced leaders across the gaming organization. You are a natural design collaborator.Establish effective processes. Design systems and process are constantly evolving. You improve and integrate design flows to lead the industry.

This Principal Design Architect is well versed in product development cycles, can bring user-centered design processes to life, has AI co-design experience, and has a diverse and extensive portfolio. We will look to this person to articulate an experienced design point of view, inspire the team, and resolve the best course of action in partnership with User Research and Data Science. This role reports directly to the Head of Design.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service designOR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service designOR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

Deep knowledge of UX designAdvanced level proficiencies in FigmaAbility to quickly produce elegant and easily understood artifacts, both personally and via the design teamCross-team and cross-discipline communication skills and understanding of related business and technology processesConfident presentation skills to all levels of an organizationInnate curiosity for UX and UIInclusive design experience15+ years in Product Design preferred

Product Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
