The Metrics and Analytics team within MSN is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to influence its product roadmap through data driven insights.

Through telemetry, data, and consumer insights you’ll work to understand key user behaviors, funnels, and focus on areas where we can improve their experience and journey. Our primary strategy is to meet users where they are and integrate content in the right context leveraging many Microsoft products. Personalization is a key tenet for our product and data/user insights play a foundation role.

Work closely with the product teams to understand business problems, collect, organize, and analyze data from multiple environmental sources, telemetry systems, organize them so that they can be consumed. Lead the team to evangelize strategic improvements across organizational boundaries. Provide comprehensive analysis of the current state of the product, identify best data sets, Data Science methodologies, algorithms, tools and infra needed to generate models to support the planned ML-based investments. Define appropriate metrics to measure model effectiveness, aligning with business goals. Integrate models into products, meeting product scaling and quality requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical technologies)OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical technologies)OR equivalent experience.5+ years customer-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with large, distributed data sets to derive actionable insight. Advanced skills in big data programming language. Experience working with Azure’s analytics stack - Data Lake, Data Explorer/Kusto, Storage, Data Factory, Synapse, Data Bricks. Interpersonal communication and ability to leverage the data to tell a story. Previous web analytics, product analytics and or content analytics experience. Demonstrated stakeholder management ability including effective prioritization, clear and concise communication, and delivery of actionable data-driven insights. Advanced degree in quantitative fields. Knowledge of Ads ecosystem, content and online shopping metrics. Data Science IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
