This is an exciting time to join our group and work on something highly strategic to Microsoft. Microsoft Dataverse is the platform to securely store an enormous amount of data in a cost efficient, scalable and easily manageable way. This team builds a suite of microservices to get near real-time insights over your data in Microsoft Dataverse Search. Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Design and development of advanced AI models and agentic systems for real-world applications.Own and drive end-to-end model training, including data pipeline design, distributed training optimization, and performance evaluation.Stay up to date with the latest advancements in LLM, NLP, deep learning, search and AI research.Research and develop an understanding of the state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and methods being used in the research community and product groups. Drive innovation by staying current with the latest research, technologies, and best practices in AI/ML, and Translate research breakthroughs into production-ready algorithms, contributing to core capabilities such as search, planning, and long-term memory.Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and research teams to productionize models, build scalable, robust pipelines and provide support for in production AI Models/Agents. End-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models, from prototyping and implementation to evaluation, deployment, and monitoring. Conduct applied science experiments, create and validate metrics, develop ML pipeline and modeling algorithm in the area of Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, and Machine Learning. Conduct experiments to evaluate model performance (including Large Language Models), troubleshoot issues, and iterate improvements.
Qualifications
Required QualificationsDoctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.3+ years of experience developing and deploying large language models (LLMs), including agentic systems, supervised fine-tuning, and Reinforcement Learning (RLHF).3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and optimizing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and advanced context engineering. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
