The Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges.
We work closely with our customers’ engineers to jointly develop code for cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud. We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development of broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform.
We are hiring a Principal Data Science Manager to lead a team of data scientists as they work with software engineering teams to help drive high-impact engineering projects with our customers and their partners, transforming their missions using AI and other cloud-based solutions and services. Each data scientist works closely with a dev lead to co-lead a cross-functional team of software engineers, technical program managers, and designers. Data scientists have data management and expertise in developing statistical techniques to analyze data and find patterns.

Responsibilities
You will support and manage your team’s activities in constructing final datasets from raw data, ensuring data is prepared in a multi-functional approach. You’ll also help your team understand key data exploration tools, and coach junior engineers in data analysis best practices.
You will develop new predictive and prescriptive models with the goal of producing viable solutions and oversee data and statistical analyses across multiple teams. You’ll also communicate results of assessments and process reviews to upper management and drive the deployment of evaluation results.
You will oversee collaboration efforts with other engineering teams, and share industry and research knowledge through conferences, white papers, and more. You’ll also be responsible for enabling the team from both technology and business acumen perspectives.
You will champion innovative principles that affect Microsoft’s long-term business goals, while looking for opportunities across multiple customers and developing novel designs for future products. You’ll also establish and implement a customer-oriented focus within the team and organization.

Data Science M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
