Description

Overview

Data Engineering is the production engine behind Global Skilling's data-driven decisions. The team delivers a unified, secure, and governed data platform that enables reporting, insights, data products, and downstream consumption across Microsoft.

We are hiring multiple Data Engineer II roles across several focus areas. Each role contributes to a different layer of the WISE data ecosystem — from foundational data pipelines and governance, to Data-as-a-Service products, to reporting and analytics experiences.

Focus Areas:

Data Engineer – Data Platform Foundations Builds and maintains ETL pipelines, data-sharing frameworks, and governance systems across 1st-party internal Microsoft data platforms (e.g., ASN, OCDM, IDEAS, MSSales), 2nd-party (LinkedIn, GitHub), partner (Skillable, Pearson, Credly), and 3rd-party (Pitchbook, Sprinklr, ATLAS) sources. Contributes to data mesh patterns and AI-ready pipelines that are discoverable and consumable by intelligent systems.

Data Engineer – Data-as-a-Service / Backend Services Designs and operates REST APIs and backend services that expose WISE datasets as secure, governed data products. Focus includes API contracts, service layers, and low-latency data consumption for Microsoft engineering teams.

Data Engineer – Reporting & Analytics / BI Engineering Builds the reporting and analytics layer using Power BI, semantic modeling, curated marts, and self-serve capabilities. Delivers stakeholder reporting, contributes to Insights Hub, and enables AI-driven and self-serve insights.

In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day. We encourage all candidates to apply, including those who may not feel they meet every preferred qualification — research consistently shows that diverse experience and perspectives strengthen our work.
