Description
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Senior Data Center Systems Engineer, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries and millions of servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.
Derive requirements for data center power and cooling systems based on high level concepts.Provides make-versus-buy recommendations to management with tradeoffs based on complexity, financial impact, quality, reliability, and time duration.Creates robust, scalable, secure and extensible verification plans for the hardware engineering aspects of data centers.Drive system engineering analysis of the proposed requirements.Identify key system inflection points to aid in design specific decisions.Drive brainstorming sessions for various technical teams in the organization.Influence and communicate: Lead executive-level communication and influence cross-functional stakeholders.Lead cross-functional teams to drive implementation of strategic projects: from defining plans, monitoring progress, tracking key metrics, and removing roadblock to delivering results.Support Monthly Business Review content and meetings.Manage work in Azure Dev Ops and associated tracking tools.Embody our culture and values.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications8+ years of technical engineering experience
o OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
o OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience
3+ years of experience with datacenter cooling systems 3+ years of experience with power system engineeringExperience in working with hardware engineering teams, software engineering teams and data science teams.Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years experience with power system engineering5+ years experience with datacenter power system deployment in production datacenters4+ years experience with reporting and data analysis systems & platforms (e.g., PowerBI)Electrical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
