Description

The Culture & Inclusion (C&I) Practice Leader serves as a trusted strategic advisor and integrator, embedding Microsoft’s inclusion and culture priorities into business strategies, operational decisions, and talent practices.

The C&I Practice Leader works closely with leaders, HR partners, and cross-functional teams to translate priorities into practical, context-specific action. Through deep engagement, coaching, and data-informed insights, this role activates behavior change, and drives accountability. Their work connects business strategy to employee experience, unlocking cultural transformation at scale.

This role will be located in our Redmond, WA office.

Key responsibilities include:

Act as the strategic connector between enterprise priorities and business or regional realities, interpreting Microsoft’s culture and inclusion strategy, guiding implementation, and adapting for relevance and impact. Embed inclusion and culture into business rhythms and people plans by participating in talent planning, leadership reviews, and key operational moments, ensuring integration into people and performance systems. Consult on complex or emerging challenges related to workforce diversity, cultural dynamics, or employee experience, serving as a trusted advisor and escalation point. Identify systemic barriers and work cross-functionally to design or localize practical, scalable solutions that unlock progress across teams and geographies. Deliver targeted coaching and advisory support to HR and senior leaders to build capability, drive behavior change, and embed inclusive leadership practices. Monitor progress and readiness through data, employee sentiment, and business insights, surfacing risks, opportunities, and measurable outcomes. Collaborate across the enterprise, including with ERGs, the Systemic Change & Solutions team, and other Culture & Inclusion teammates, to ensure alignment, amplify impact, and accelerate learning. Thought LeadershipForecasts policy and guidelines need to use knowledge of the business and emerging topics in the industry and drive the creation of culture and inclusion policies and guidelines in partnership with Legal or other teams. Creates a culture of ongoing policy and guidelines innovation to better the industry. Monitors policy compliance and develops strategies to increase policy and guidelines awareness and advocacy. Understands and monitors employee and industry insight, policy, and strategy compliance to inform and advocate for reflective diversity and inclusion policies and guidelines. Advises business units and leadership on compliance with company policies and strategy. Consults on the integration of culture and inclusion, through dialogues with the most senior executives and decision-makers in the business and Human Resources (HR) to drive clarity and focus. Resolves critical culture issues escalated from business units, as needed. Monitors and synthesizes culture insights to inform coaching and consultation.Influences and consults senior leadership on culture and Inclusion strategic best practices and emerging trends. Provides consultation on highly complex or sensitive inquiries regarding culture and inclusion needs or issues. Leverages network and partnerships across the company to ensure a common understanding of initiatives and strategic priorities. Leverages identified opportunities to scale programming for efficiency and consistency with One Microsoft experience while balancing the unique needs of the organization/geography based on data.

Stragetic PlanningCollaborates with leadership teams to determine needs for readiness and efficiency, extracts insights to inform the activation and implementation of culture and inclusion strategy and takes ownership and final accountability for the areas prioritized for the implementation. Works across leadership teams and business units to focus on culture and talent drivers that accrue to broad strategic priorities. Considers localized needs in balance with company-wide direction for effective strategy and planning approaches. Where possible, integrate strategy and plans in overall people plans, rhythms, and processes for the highest success. Focuses on long-term strategy development and delivery and working with partners to do so.Coordinates and influences all levels of leadership and key partners (e.g., HR Line Solutions, Global Talent Acquisition, Corporate Communications, Finance, Learning and Development, Talent Development, Organizational Development, HR Consulting) to secure resources, ensure alignment and integration of solutions across businesses, and enhance culture impact throughout the company. Influences partnerships and serves as a key contact to successfully implement the partnership and hold partners accountable. Develops communication strategies to convey a common message across Human Resources programs.

Solution Design and ManagementAssesses and identifies interconnected patterns and trends across multiple businesses and geographies, as well as the industry, to identify, design, drive, and influence the adoption of large-scale solutions. Applies best practices and deep industry knowledge to influence an inclusive organizational culture across client organizations and business groups. Creates strategies to drive the development of culture and inclusion solutions across the company. Proposes changes and updates to existing programs that optimize talent systems and culture activation for scale. Ensures strategies align with both short- and long-term business needs. Utilizes team solution design process to ensure quality and sustainability of new solutions. Proactively proposes changes and updates to existing programs, based on internal and external data and case studies.Owns and is responsible for project plans and oversees budget management for the team which may include serving as the primary liaison to Finance. Serves as a company-wide expert in implementing and integrating culture-related solutions. Ensures projects are taking place and reviews progress of solutions and work with vendors to achieve desired outcomes. Drives accountability of stakeholders to deliver on plan responsibilities.Works with management to understand vendor requirements for desired solutions. Manages complex or highly critical vendor relationships and guides others to hold vendors accountable to service-level agreements for enterprise outcomes. Oversees the vendor administration process including the strategic selection and onboarding of new vendors. Ensures vendor relationships comply with Microsoft standards.Partners with senior leadership to review findings on the effectiveness of culture and inclusion solutions. Provides thought leadership to enhance the measurability and accountability of data-driven reporting and solutions and leverages data insights to inform talent systems changes that will accrue to culture and Inclusion strategic priorities. Observe and share trends across teams for broader impact. Complies with Microsoft data practices and guidance from Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) and Human Resource Privacy.

Influencing ChangeCollaborates with all levels of to influence buy-in and adoption of organization-wide inclusive talent systems, and cultural change. Develops change plans and partners with Communications teams and business partners to design and implement communication plans for change management. Partners with leaders to find solutions that shape and drive cultural change across the entire ecosystem.

Insights with AnalyticsIdentifies trends and patterns in data and makes connections to the broader ecosystem within and outside of Microsoft. Oversees and analyzes a wide variety of data using Human Resources (HR) business analytics tools and methodologies, such as competitive benchmarking and employee listening data. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field AND 6+ years experience in human resources or business OR Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field AND 8+ years experience in human resources or Business OR equivalent experience.3+ years direct or indirect people management experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field AND 12+ years of relevant human resources or business experience OR Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field AND 15+ years of relevant human resources or business experience OR equivalent experience.Proven experience engaging with leaders and executive teams to influence culture, talent, and inclusion outcomes. Demonstrated ability to embed inclusion and cultural change into systems, processes, and decision-making at scale.Demonstrated fluency in interpreting data and employee sentiment to inform action.Experience working in large, matrixed global environmentsFamiliarity with agile principles, change management models, and systemic thinking frameworksBusiness AcumenCritical Systems thinking: the ability to understand, develop, and influence processes and models to achieve desired outcomes

Diversity & Inclusion IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
