The Xbox Studio team is looking for a Senior Creative & Production Manager to drive small to large scale and complex video, live broadcast and multi-media branded content deliverables, and corporate communications content designed for large internal audiences. This role will sit within the Xbox Studio team, an in-house content marketing and media production team. This role will report to the Head of Xbox Studio. The Senior Creative & production Manager is passionate about video games and video storytelling that informs and entertains global audiences.
The role will collaborate and work closely with production operations, content leads, social leads, regional market leads, executives, developers, and other content partners. This position will drive executions that put our players/audience first and celebrate Team Xbox and our many gaming communities across the globe. They will bring a diverse games and platform portfolio together into a cohesive programming strategy that meets both the needs and rhythm of the content, as well as the expectations of the community and employees. The individual in this role will oversee the entire lifecycle of media productions, ensuring high-quality content that aligns with the company’s strategic goals. This position requires a blend of creative vision, leadership, and technical expertise to manage productions from concept to completion.
Pre-Production/Development
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the overall vision and strategy for media productions. Requires constant tracking and familiarity with business objectives, as well as keeping a pulse on the current landscape, trends and feedback of stakeholders and audiences both internally and consumer facing.Content Development: Develop and pitch new ideas for media content that engages and informs the target audience.Production & Project Scoping: In-charge of determining the approach, format, scope and workback schedule for all productions.Executive Coordination: Responsible for coordinating with Executive Leadership teams for all team-covered projects. Includes receiving executive team requests and communicating those requests to the manager and appropriate producing team. Ensure the needs of the executive team are met promptly and efficiently before production, during production and after delivery.Budget Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for all projects.Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with executives and leadership to ensure content aligns with corporate messaging and objectives.Vendor Management: Select and manage external vendors and suppliers, including production companies, creative agencies, and other specialists.Quality Control: You are the last line of defense, ensuring all productions meet the highest standards of quality and professionalism.Script Supervision: Oversee story development and scriptwriting to ensure consistency in tone, style, and messaging.Talent Coordination: Manage the selection and coordination of on-screen talent, including executives, hosts, guests, etc. Ensuring time for rehearsal, messaging prep and wardrobe coordination.Scheduling: Create and maintain production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of all projects.Go-To-Market: Draft or coordinate initial Go-to-Market and distribution plans, ensuring pre-pro through post-production is addressing the needs of the final delivery plans.On-set/Production
Creative & Story Direction: Lead the direction of video projects, ensuring the story, script, and visual style are executed and captured to the quality and expectation of leadership and the target audience.Team Leadership: Guide and manage the production team, including camera operators, sound engineers, and other crew members. You will serve as the single voice between production and stakeholder, which requires constant communication, complete confidence, attention to detail and understanding of all aspects of the project to foresee any potential challenges or gaps. You either have the answers or know how to get them quickly.Technical Oversight: Supervise the technical aspects of production, including lighting, sound, and camera work, proactively communicating recommendations or required updates to approach based on final deliverable expectations. On-Set Management: Oversee all on-set activities, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to the production schedule. You set the tone and are responsible for interdepartmental communication, collaboration and keeping everyone focused on the priorities of the day(s).Talent/Speaker Direction: You are comfortable providing feedback and direction for talent (Executives, hosts, guests, etc.). Recording and script notes are consolidated through you for review and then communicated to talent. You are also responsible for tracking “talent presence/performance” against end goals and target audience expectations. This includes creating a comfortable space on-set for the talent to deliver their messaging, ensuring desired energy and message delivery, checking wardrobe throughout for any sensitive or distracting issues, prioritizing necessary and unnecessary feedback, pushing for additional takes if you think they are required, identifying when talent needs a break or reset, and most importantly ensuring they don’t leave until you know what you’ve captured is high quality.Post-Production
Post-Production Supervision: Guide the post-production process, including editing, motion graphics, color correction and grading, sound mixing, etc.Review Coordination: You set the review schedule and expectations for post-production team and stakeholders. You are the FTE “approver” on this team.Distribution/Release
Metrics and Learnings Reporting: Monitor audience feedback and analytics to refine and improve future productions.
Qualifications
Required QualificationsMaster's Degree in in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 3+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 5+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
5+ years’ experience producing large-scale high-quality projects in film, TV, live-broadcast, or branded video in the entertainment or games industry.3+ years' leadership experience in a creative and/or production agency environment.3+ years experience presenting to executives and managing high profile talent.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years’ experience producing large-scale high-quality projects in film, TV, live-broadcast, or branded video in the entertainment or games industry.Proficient leadership, creative communication, and project management skills.Quality written & verbal communication skills.Deep knowledge, understanding, and experience in video storytelling in the video game industry.A passion for audience and pop-culture. You enjoy the challenge of reaching audiences where they are, absorbing and dissecting what audiences want in their content and creating strategies for reaching audiences through video storytelling.Ability to identify and rationalize the range of success metrics for constituent stakeholders.Familiarity with various forms of storytelling and story packaging that suit a variety of platforms.Willingness to try bold new ideas and accept and learn from feedback.
Product Marketing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
