Description

Microsoft’s Event Creative Experiences (ECE) Team mission is to design, ideate and architect creative experiences for Microsoft’s business-to-business events, which deliver value to our customers, build brand love and empower audiences to achieve more. We aim to drive operational excellence within the organization and deliver breakthrough creative programming for Microsoft’s flagship event portfolio around the globe.

The ECE portfolio covers events of various sizes and complexities, both in terms of audience size & composition, first party & third party, and delivery methodologies. This role will lead experiences and design throughout ideation, development, production, and execution phases of every assigned project.

As a Creative Director, Experiential & Design, you will be the driving force behind the creative strategy and vision of experiential marketing efforts and design for Microsoft’s flagship events, leading a talented team of creatives to deliver unforgettable programming. Your strategic thinking, innovative ideas, and passion for excellence in creative for experiential will be key to your success in this role. In this role, you should also consider yourself an experiential artist, art director, event marketer, creative visionary and an immersive and interactive storyteller.

You will manage a team of 10 Event Experience Leads/Event Design Leads within the creative team. You will focus on all up experience and design strategy for the events portfolio; ideating and architecting experiences and activations for Microsoft’s commercial events such as Ignite, Build, AI Tour and more. This role is pivotal in co-leading all-up event creative strategies and storytelling alongside a team of event Creative Directors. Experiences, activations and designs will be tailored for business and technical senior decision makers. You will report directly to the General Manager Event Creative Experiences within the broader events team, under the corporate Marketing group.

You will play a key role that works with diverse Microsoft teams such as product marketing, engineering, public relations (PR), sales, event sponsorships, senior executives, and others. You and your team will bring to life the experiential marketing strategy and vision for Microsoft’s portfolio of events and contribute to out-of-the-box thinking for onsite, online and hybrid experiences. Lead all up creative strategy and design efforts for experiential programming, for select Microsoft global events. Develop the Event Experiences and Design efforts that support event priorities, and objectives. Leverage Al-driven personalization and creative innovation solutions to deliver tailored, scalable experiences for business audiences. Lead the experiences, activations and design creative vision, transforming them into story-driven programs that forge deep connections with key customers and partners.Guide a multidisciplinary team of experiential developers, designers, and digital broadcast resources, shaping a unified creative strategy that weaves together narrative design, spatial storytelling, and interaction design for cohesive, high-impact experiences.Champion innovation in immersive storytelling, leveraging AI, mixed reality, and emerging technologies to translate complex product ecosystems into accessible, future-forward narratives.Elevate Microsoft’s cultural relevance, embedding insight-driven creative that resonates with today’s enterprise audiences and reflects the evolving societal and technological landscape.Collaborate cross-functionally with production, design, product, and executive stakeholders, serving as a visionary leader who brings clarity, momentum, and creative excellence to every initiative. Mentor and inspire a high-performing team, cultivating a culture of curiosity, bold thinking, and emotional intelligence across designers, creative technologists, and producers.Architect a scalable creative framework and strategic toolkit, enabling consistent, repeatable excellence across the global events ecosystem.Partner with senior leadership to evolve Microsoft’s experiential strategy, delivering a fresh, audience-first creative point of view that elevates brand perception and deepens engagement across products and platformsEmbody our Culture and Values



Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

8+ years experience in a creative field, overseeing project work across creative programs, leading creative excellence across branding, environmental & experiential design, digital/web, broadcast media, both large- and small-scale delivery, and excellent writing.OR equivalent experience. 5+ years people management experience. 5+ years experience leading a team and creative direction initiatives for live experiences & events.5+ years experience working with global brands, developing and executing go-to-market creative strategies for product launches, brand moments, and multi-platform experiential marketing campaigns, in both domestic and international markets. Experience in designing and executing high-level experiential business to business (B2B)/ business to consumer (B2C) programs.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Liberal Arts, Performing Arts, or related field AND 12+ years experience in a creative field, overseeing project work across creative programs, leading creative excellence across branding, environmental & experiential design, digital/web, broadcast media, both large- and small-scale delivery, and excellent writing.OR equivalent experience. 10+ years marketing experience in a large multinational organization or creative/media agency. 7+ years people management experience.Experience managing multiple projects, overseeing budgets and meeting project deadlines effectively. Experience in the technology industry and Microsoft's event portfolio.Experience working cross functionally with success.

Events M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,800 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,400 - $303,600 per year.
