Overview

A Microsoft Design storytelling and envisioning team is seeking a Senior Creative Designer to bring stories to life. Your work will span internal and external audiences, impacting both our Microsoft Design channels (website and social media) and internal teams imagining the future of Copilot.

Externally, as the Senior Creative Designer for Microsoft Design’s public presence, your role blends content creation with art direction and story ideation—vibrantly conveying our design culture and products to creative professionals and tech enthusiasts. Internally, you will partner with a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary UX team working on both back-end infrastructure (i.e. model tuning and training) and front-end interactions (i.e. generative UI) for Copilot. As a Senior Creative Designer, you will help translate future visions and complex technical concepts into human-centric visual narratives that generate clarity, buy-in, and excitement for a positive vision of the future of work.

Responsibilities

Multidisciplinary design: create visual narratives and imagery across 2D, 3D, illustration, graphics, motion, and video, supporting Microsoft Design storytelling across the website, social channels, blogs, and other digital platforms.Build and steward cross-channel visual systems and libraries that improve consistency, efficiency, and storytelling quality across web, social, mobile, video, and presentations.Leverage your abilities as a tastemaker to set the artistic direction for Microsoft Design’s external platforms (website + social media).Provide art direction and coaching for illustrators and visual artists we partner with.Produce lightweight motion assets or storyboards to support video content and story concepts.Maintain high creative standards rooted in Microsoft’s brand, design language, and accessibility guidelines, ensuring visual content is user-centered and inclusive.Skills and Qualities

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems). Preferred Qualifications:

A portfolio demonstrating a high-quality of visual craft, conceptual thinking, and multidisciplinary design work.Fluency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), Figma, PowerPoint.Comfort with 3D as a medium, using tools like Blender or C4D/Redshift and/or partnering with a 3D illustrator.Experience designing for digital surfaces (web + social), presentations, and working with motion or video teams.Experience supporting editorial or narrative storytelling environments (newsrooms, branded content, creative studios).An understanding of the evolving tech and design landscape, particularly the intersection of AI and UX.Typographic sensibility and composition skills.Comfort working with AI-enabled tools and experimentation with new creative technologies.

Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
