Description
We are looking for a storyteller to join the Brand Creative Lab—a team of designers, strategists, and makers shaping Microsoft’s consumer brand experiences. As a Senior Copywriter, you will craft compelling narratives across digital-first campaigns, social content, product storytelling, and brand initiatives. You will partner closely with the creative and design directors, designers, producers, and strategists to bring ideas to life that are bold, clear, and emotionally resonant. This role is ideal for someone who can fluidly move between punchy taglines and rich long-form narratives, adapting voice and tone across diverse formats and audiences. You will be a key voice in shaping how Microsoft’s consumer brands including Copilot, Surface, Windows, Microsoft 365, Edge, and Bing show up in the world—across surfaces, screens, and stories.Concept and create big ideas for brand campaigns, product launches, events, experiential, social content, and video scripts with a digital-first mindset. Translate briefs into clear messaging frameworks and storytelling arcs that reflect strategic intent. Write across formats – from headlines and taglines to long-form narratives, manifestos, scripts, and UX microcopy. Collaborate cross-functionally with art directors, designers, product marketing managers, strategists, and the integrated marketing team. Understands and appreciates the importance of strategy to ensure all ideas are on brief. Ensure brand voice consistency across all touchpoints. Present ideas in a clear and focused way that builds consensus within the team. Create original, breakthrough, industry-leading work. Translate complex strategic approaches into easily accessible creative concepts. Stay attuned to the pulse of emerging trends and insights, analyzing their impact on industries, brands, and audiences to develop innovative creative strategies that resonate with, inspire, and drive meaningful engagement across wide-ranging audiences.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications3+ years proven writing or content design experience AND a certification, degree, or training in English, Writing, Human-centered Design, Literature, or related field OR equivalent experience.1+ year(s) project leadership experience.5+ years of agency/in-house professional writing experience in advertising, branding, or digital content creation for global brands. Additional or preferred qualifications5+ years demonstrated growth in writing or content design AND a certification, degree, or training in English, Writing, Human-centered Design, Literature, or related field OR equivalent experience.3+ years project leadership experience.2+ years experience in a related content domain/area.Possesses a portfolio that reflects strong conceptual thinking, narrative clarity, and design excellence in digital and social campaignsExperience crafting copy that brings humanity into technology in a way that is understood by audiences.Experience writing for video, motion, and interactive formats.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.Experience working with wide-ranging audiences, including but not limited to consumers, creators, and business.Interest in product storytelling and project strategy.Experience thinking conceptually with experience bringing your ideas to life in new and inspiring ways.Experience copywriting and concepting ideas to tell a story on behalf of a brand and within a product.Familiarity with AI tools for content creation and curiosity about how AI can enhance storytelling and workflow.Empathetic communicator with a sense of humor and a flexible, inclusive mindset.Production experience and ability to handle different types of productions.
Writing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
