Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions.

Silison Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is a fast-growing R&D organization that designs, engineers and qualifies the entire cloud-optimized infrastructure, including advanced Compute and Storage server technology that push the technological.
We are hiring a Cloud Software Engineer II.
Our team – CRC (Cloud Readiness Certified), within SCHIE, drives the hardware, firmware and infrastructure software validation lifecycle and is accountable for the quality experience of our cloud customers. Our goal is to exceed customer expectations in every aspect related to infrastructure quality. Therefore, we invest heavily in automating the validation processes, from the inception and throughout the entire h/w lifecycle. We invest in systems that continuously monitor the hardware quality in production, predict hardware failures, detect behavioral anomalies, and mitigate issues before they impact customers. Our mission is to ensure a consistent high quality of production hardware through automation and smart engineering that can scale as fast as the cloud business grows. Design, develop, and deliver software that measures and improves the quality of Azure hardware that exceeds customer expectations. Focus on customer experience. Identify and fix or drive fixes for systemic issues, influence and create new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Collaborate with hardware architects and PMs to verify new Azure hardware. Solve mission critical problems relating to our services by building software automation. Prototype, incubate, and pilot new initiatives as our business grows.Embody our Culture and Values
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
o OR equivalent experience.
2+ years software development experience in distributed automation systems
Other Requirement
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) tools such as Azure DevOps. Knowledge and work experience in data mining, statistics, mathematics is a plus. Ability to perform technical deep dives into service design, operating systems, networking, and storage systems. Demonstrable business results working across multiple teams, building distributed systems, and remastering legacy codebases. Experience with PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages. Experience working with any cloud services such as azure web apps. Experience in building web clients / UI applications.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
