Overview

We are looking for a Chief of Staff - Financial Services (FSI) who will manage the day-to-day running of the business on behalf of a leader, including driving the rhythm of business (ROB), planning and executing department agendas, driving budget planning process and ongoing review, and managing workforce planning activities. Maximizes/extends the leader while developing relationships with key partners, communicating the leader’s strategy, conducting external engagement/thought leadership, and serving as a trusted advisor to the leader.

Monitors the organizational health and drives the health and culture of the organization. Ensures continuation of business operations, driving strategy execution and/or leader alignment. Participates in a variety of special projects/programs and initiatives, as needed. May drive accountability managing business metrics such as scorecards and/or defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs)

Facilitates strategy initiatives, working with senior leaders and creating clarity in ambiguous situations to focus on key priorities and decisions for leaders across the organization to drive outcomes. As appropriate, leads and executes plans in coordination with program managers to ensure continuation of business at all times, including in adverse conditions in accordance with corporate guidance. Leads strategy execution in partnership with the leadership team across the organization. Leverages knowledge of organizational strategy and planned deliverables for the upcoming year(s) to design complex budgets and works in partnership with Finance to approve budgets and develop long-term forecasting plans in partnership with the leadership team. Leads in conjunction with stakeholders and the leadership team on multiple workstreams. Serves in the absence of the leader as needed to share their goals, objectives, and vision. Drives team culture and health for the leader by getting a pulse on organizational health to enable a healthy scorecard for the organization. Drives cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and to manage complex business needs. May lead executive-level communication with a variety of internal audiences to ensure alignment with business priorities. In addition, this role has people management responsibilities including driving employee growth and development, executing projects, and managing performance.

Responsibilities

Business OperationsAs appropriate, leads and executes plans in coordination with program managers to ensure continuation of business at all times, including in adverse conditions in accordance with corporate guidance. When needed, ensures checks and balances are in place for the team to ensure Microsoft's best interest with regard to strategic partnerships necessary for continuity of business. May coordinate with program managers to strategize and develop business continuity plans with Microsoft corporate Crisis Management and Business Continuity teams. Leads strategy execution in partnership with the leadership team across the organization. Shares priorities with leaders to negotiate appropriate level of involvement on initiatives to drive execution of top priorities. Leads and oversees partnerships and processes to ensure alignment, reviews process execution and performance to ensure results align with business priorities, mutual commitments, and scorecard needs. Leverages knowledge of the business to drive the execution of leader's and business's strategic goals. Defines and sets expectations for effective practices for organizational strategy execution within existing businesses, advocating for and presenting clear and compelling business cases to senior leadership and partners. Contributes to organizational design conversation and drives successful implementation of organizational plans and strategies (e.g., translates high-level strategic plans into concrete execution). Establishes key indicators of success in alignment with strategy to streamline business strategy execution. Works across the organization to report against and adjust targets if necessary. Directs their team's oversight of corporate governance and performance management by providing insight and guidance into prioritizing and monitoring forward-looking indicators, sharing progress with senior leadership and evangelizing effective practices. Facilitates strategy initiatives, working with senior leaders and creating clarity in ambiguous situations to focus on key priorities and decisions for leaders across the organization to drive outcomes. Drives business direction and accountability for the leadership team and organization in executing core business activities in alignment with corporate planning processes across the broader organization. Drives the architecture, development, and execution of the rhythm of business (RoB) and business review cadence aligned to the scope and complexity of the business. Uses strategy plans to inform structure of RoB, business reviews, and business insights to predict and enable achievement of key business outcomes. Informs direction for processes related to adherence to privacy and compliance and defines expectations and goals for the team and organization in executing core business activities. Serves as a point of contact while understanding the business status and industry trends. Collaborates with partners, leaders, and key stakeholders to develop plans and articulate benefits of partnerships and how they provide mutual value. Defines expectations for and evolves content to enable realization of business outcomes and demonstrate how plans will provide and achieve high-impact business value (e.g., executive-level recognition) for partners and the company. Leverages knowledge of organizational strategy and planned deliverables for the upcoming year(s) to design complex budgets and works in partnership with Finance to approve budgets and develop long-term forecasting plans in partnership with the leadership team. Oversees the tracking of financial progress to date against budget and manages complex budgets and negotiation. Works with senior leadership to establish clear principles and/or guidelines for budgeting and forecasting and identifies actions that can be taken to course-correct and drive performance improvement. Anticipates business challenges based on forecasts and larger organizational circumstances. Contributes knowledge to strategic investment decisions and leads efforts to optimize and adjust budget where needed. Directs partnerships with Procurement team to coordinate future resources and with leaders regarding resource management planning. Ensures that spend remains within budget and that the leader is aligned on the headcount and budget strategy. Executive Leader and Team CommunicationsMay lead executive-level communication with a variety of internal audiences to ensure alignment with business priorities. Develops content and messaging to articulate the team's mission, key projects, organizational/company strategy, and vision on behalf of the leader. Proactively seeks out relevant content (e.g., security requirements, priorities, and/or updates) to communicate to the organization. Guides tactical response to crisis situations. Optimizes the leader's time by structuring the communication strategy for the business and organizing the daily communications of the leader. Performs triage and may ghostwrite and perform executive-level communication with a variety of audiences on behalf of the leader to expedite leader's time. Maximizing/ Extending the LeaderServes in the absence of the leader as needed to share their goals, objectives, and vision. Serves as a thought leader and trusted advisor to the leader in multiple areas (e.g., setting key goals, priorities, and definitions; culture and health; industry/business knowledge). Synthesizes insights and leverages expertise to influence the leader, leadership team, and organization. Oversees content creation within the organization and, at times, within the industry. Strategically directs the development of comprehensive audit frameworks for Teams and SharePoint memberships, shareable and expiring links, and documentation storage practices, ensuring organization-wide compliance with confidentiality and sensitivity parameters.Leads in conjunction with stakeholders and the leadership team on multiple workstreams (e.g., workforce planning, culture, business health). Advises senior leaders and key external stakeholders on industry and company insights as a key partner. Builds and cultivates relationships at scale for the business while using understanding of stakeholder needs to ensure the optimal use of leaders' time. Leverages key partnerships to drive the agenda for the leadership team and ensures follow up. Provides direction for criteria used to break down complex information into actionable steps for stakeholders. Creates alignment within partnerships by providing an objective point of view, ensuring all voices are heard, synthesizing ideas, and creating an action plan. Acts as a proxy for the leader. Carries out related reporting and exception management as required. May organize executive visits, including global events with customers and/or partners. Organizational HealthDrives team culture and health for the leader by getting a pulse on organizational health to enable a healthy scorecard for the organization. Champions and influences culture initiatives aligned to defined People Strategy, connecting leaders and teams to One Microsoft Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) plan resources and guidance. Partners with Human Resources (HR), leader, and business management community on best ways to apply company guidance, accelerate progress related to culture and inclusion, and define communications and action plans for the organization in response to employee signals. Capitalizes on team strengths and identifies development areas, strategizing, planning, and directing execution of trainings. Tracks the use of role-based compliance trainings and new required trainings (e.g., security). Drives the training completion rates. Business Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
